ambient light control

I have found what is described as an ambient light control switch in the module along side of the headlight control.
It is one of two rotating wheel type switches there. the one on the right works as dimming the instrument panel. Than manual states the ambient light control switch (if equipped- I have a limited so assume it should function) is to the left of this. It rotates and has a click off feature. The manual says it will control the brightness of the overhead console, storage bins, door jambs, etc. I have rotated this switch and have not seen any results. I tried it in the garage with the headlights on and still no change.
Does anyone know how this functions or if mine might not be functioning? I realize is it not an important feature but like most of us, if we have it we want it to work.
Thanks for any help

On mine the brightness does change but very little. I'd prefer it go from max brightness to full off as you turn the knob.

Garage
On our Limited, the control works as it should. But it helps to look for the effect at night as the ambient light is not bright.

I am referring to the rotating switch on the left. The one on the right dims the dash and will turn off or on the interior lights.
The rotating switch on the left changes nothing. Unless I am unaware.

I also can only get the nav map go to night setting if the instruments lights go dimmer. When I raise the brightness level I get a short intantaneuus brightening of the street names and the map background staying dark but then goes to all bright or is I turn the switch darkens it all. This again is the rotating switch on the right.
Maybe I need a service guy to review this with me. I had such lousy orientation when I picked up the car, I think they will not be of much help.

The middle control shown here (or the leftmost of the two identical thumb knobs). I notice only subtle changes to lights at the door handle and especially the recessed light from the rectangular hole in the overhead console right behind the dropdown sunglass holder but in front of the drop down mirror.

You had orientation? We had none, nor did we have the usual trip through the service department where you meet the service manager. We did get to drive the sales guy home with us to pick up our other trade-in, but he did nothing to direct us to how any of the features worked. Somehow, I think this step fell through the cracks...

I had about an hour orientation with the salesman. Went through virtually every setting.

My orientation was over an hour with the fleet manager. Tony at Ron Carter Alvin TX even went through every single setting on every single UConnect screen.

Hi.
I just got today my touring L plus, and I have the same question. I can turn this up or down and nothing happens.
Anyone out there that it does work for?
