Extended warranty

Not sure if extended warranty was worth it 6y/75k for $2500 with Zurich. Should I cancel and try to get mopar instead. TIA

I take it that is an aftermarket warranty? Yes I would stay away big time. I got the lifetime maxcare bumper to bumper warranty from Chrysler for 2570.00. If you use my name DAMON in the promo code section, you will get 150.00 off the 2700 price. Here is all the info.......

Never, Never go with anything that isn't genuine Mopar....period! The Lifetime Bumper to Bumper is actually a great deal if you intend on keeping your car for a while.

You would definitely spend less by using Damon's link and would have a genuine Chrysler warranty. If you can get a refund for the 3rd party one, I absolutely would.

Ordered 9/19/16 -- Built 10/7/16 -- Delivered 10/27/16:
2017 Pacifica Limited - Molten Silver/Mocha

When is the best time to buy the warranty? I'm still thinking about it for my limited. Does anyone have any experience using it? Do they honor it for all of the electronics in the van?

My van is the first Chrysler product I've owned, so I don't have personal experience with their extended warranty. But, my Brother-in-Law is the service manager for our local dealership and I talked to him before buying my lifetime warranty. He said to definitely go with the Mopar warranty since it is backed by Chrysler. 2 main reasons 1) Since it is backed by Chrysler, it is accepted by all Chrysler dealerships throughout the country, so if you travel and have trouble away from home, you won't have any problems getting covered repairs. And 2) Even though many 3rd party warranties are good, dealers may be leery of them. BIL said if someone comes to him with a 3rd party warranty, he has to check it out before he'll start repairs, which could delay the process. If the customer has a Mopar warranty, then no questions asked.

Looking at the list of covered components, it looks like most, if not all electronics are covered. Follow this link for a list of covered components Maximum Care New Vehicle Coverage This is the Max Care Warranty

As far as the timing, I bought my warranty as soon as I was able. My reasoning for buying so soon was that I wanted to have it bought just in case Chrysler would decide to discontinue offering the Lifetime Warranty in the future.

Also, in addition to covered components, the Maximum Care Warranty offers additional services such as $100 towing and roadside assistance, $1,000 trip interruption coverage, car rental, and key fob replacement up to $600 with no deductible.

And also keep in mind that if you ever sell or trade your car, you can cancel the warranty and get a prorated portion back. Just like you can also cancel your GAP and get that prorated back. I do it every time I trade. I had bought the lifetime Chrysler warranty for the 2014 Town and Country and when I traded it at 36K miles I got back 73% of the money back on that mopar warranty and that helped to buy this new warranty for the Pacifica.

That has nothing to do with extended warranties from the manufacturer on automobiles......

Hi,

I have this question about lifetime extended warranty.

Somewhere I read, "Life time" does not mean Chrysler is going to repair the van forever. If the remaining value of the van is still more than the repair, they will still repair it. Is this understanding correct?

How do you determine the value of the van, say, it is 10 years from now and has 150,000 miles?
What would happen if the van is now worth $3k(determined by whoever) and the repair requires $3k? The van still got fixed at this point?

If I say at this point I don't want the extended warranty anymore and try to cancel the warranty, how will the refund be calculated, if any?
