When is the best time to buy the warranty? I'm still thinking about it for my limited. Does anyone have any experience using it? Do they honor it for all of the electronics in the van?
My van is the first Chrysler product I've owned, so I don't have personal experience with their extended warranty. But, my Brother-in-Law is the service manager for our local dealership and I talked to him before buying my lifetime warranty. He said to definitely go with the Mopar warranty since it is backed by Chrysler. 2 main reasons 1) Since it is backed by Chrysler, it is accepted by all Chrysler dealerships throughout the country, so if you travel and have trouble away from home, you won't have any problems getting covered repairs. And 2) Even though many 3rd party warranties are good, dealers may be leery of them. BIL said if someone comes to him with a 3rd party warranty, he has to check it out before he'll start repairs, which could delay the process. If the customer has a Mopar warranty, then no questions asked.
Looking at the list of covered components, it looks like most, if not all electronics are covered. Follow this link for a list of covered components Maximum Care New Vehicle Coverage
This is the Max Care Warranty
As far as the timing, I bought my warranty as soon as I was able. My reasoning for buying so soon was that I wanted to have it bought just in case Chrysler would decide to discontinue offering the Lifetime Warranty in the future.
Also, in addition to covered components, the Maximum Care Warranty offers additional services such as $100 towing and roadside assistance, $1,000 trip interruption coverage, car rental, and key fob replacement up to $600 with no deductible.
