Edit My Posts?

Hi

Am I able to edit my own posts. I made a slight error in a post I made, and I can't seem to find the edit ability.

Thanks
Kyle

You sure can. Right along the bottom of your post you should see a row of buttons. The first button is Edit, right next to Quote.

I understand where you are indicating, but there is no Edit button there...

Hmm, that's odd. You may need a certain number of posts before it lets you edit. See if the edit button pops after you've got a few more posts racked up. I'll try to do a little more research to see if that's the case.

It seems as if you can only edit your posts for a finite time after first posting them. After that, your "edit" button goes away.

It won't let you edit beyond 10 minutes after posting. I get bit by the 10 minute rule a lot. Way too short!!!

Thanks guys, I wasn't aware of that. I'll check and see if that's something that can be extended.

It should be a setting change in the Admin control panel. Most forums have it set from a few minutes to not more than an hour.

How long would you want it set to?

If the only admin option is a time setting then I would like to respectfully throw out for discussion, say 20 or 30 minutes. Is there a selective option for 'editable until someone quotes you'? I can see that editing after someone has quoted could lead to confusing threads.

BTW - I'm on several car (and other) forums and I have to say that this particular group is the most courteous, articulate and professional of any I've ever seen. Newcomers never get flamed for asking a nave or repeat question here. Even when a thread seems like it is about to get "prickly", by the time I get back with my popcorn the temperature of the language seems to have already cooled due to a well worded apology or self deprecating statement. Is everyone in this forum a former customer service manager?
