Vacuum problems

Hey all I'm new here and this forum looks great.

I recently purchased a limited model with the vacuum cleaner. The dealer did not install the hose and when I tried to do it, I messed it up and ripped the hose. It appears that in the instructions, it tells you to lube the hose ( no lube was included ) before installing. Just wanted to know if any of you had the vacuum and was it installed by the dealer. I know I made an error, but if this should be a dealer installed item, then my sales person should not have told me to just install it myself. (it's easy he said - but it's not)

Hi Gary. Welcome to the forum! Yes, dealers should be installing the vacuum hose, but it seems that a lot of them do not. Mine was installed, but they never clipped the end to the suction port, so it didn't work until I did that. I don't think it's unreasonable for you to ask the dealer to provide you with another hose since they didn't install it for you. Their cost on that part is probably pretty small.

Ordered 9/19/16 -- Built 10/7/16 -- Delivered 10/27/16:
2017 Pacifica Limited - Molten Silver/Mocha
8 Pax - Vac - SafetyTec - UConnect Theater & Sound
20" Wheels - Tow - KeySense - Splash Guards

Thank you for the quick response. I will bring it up to them when I bring it in for service this week. I also had the same LED running light problem that I read about on this forum.

Hi Gary,

I'm sorry you had this experience with the Pacifica. Please keep me posted on your experience when you bring the vehicle back in, and I'm happy to follow up if needed.

I just have a question regarding the hose - there are 2 hosed included and i know one hose is to be installed in the vac, but how about the other hose? How to use that?

When I found the second hose I thought it was an extra so I took it out of the van and stored it in my house. I went to use the vacuum cleaner yesterday and I realized that the extra hose was actually an extension piece that clips into the existing hose so that you can reach the front floorboard. You will need that piece for sure.

I can reach all the carpeted areas of the van including the front passenger floorboard with just my primary hose but, admittedly, there's a lot of pulling and stretching going on. Extending with the second hose would likely extend the life of the first hose for sure.

The extra hose is only needed for cleaning OUTSIDE the vehicle. The main hose reaches every corner of the Pacifica.

Our dealer also neglected to install the vacuum, and it was kind of a pain to install, though that was mostly my fault. I (rather stupidly) tried to thread the extra hose, thinking the two were identical. THEY ARE NOT.

Sadly, the extra hose has a somewhat thicker connector to it, which got stuck in that hose conduit inside the vehicle and was a PAIN to remove. Literally took me an hour and I almost ripped that extra hose. Eventually I was able to get it out and put the right hose in there, which was pretty easy to get in there. I didn't use any lube.

Note that after you push it into that conduit you do need to open that little door on the side and remove a small panel to actually attach the end of the hose to the unit. It clips in there easily and works great afterwords.

Note to ChryslerCares: You guys should communicate to your dealers that they ought to be installing these vacuums as part of their prep process. This was not a very customer friendly experience IMO.

The dealer did not install mine, either.

2017 Limited (built 9/29/16 at 6am)
Tusk White with black/mocha interior
Advanced Safety Tech
18" wheels
KeySense fob only because the dealer wouldn't take it off!

Mine wasn't installed either and I dropped off the vehicle to the dealer for them to install it. Later I get a call from the dealer stating that the tech didn't install it because it simply attaches to the empty hole and it'll work. I recall that included instruction did mention a type of lube and to thread through the empty hole.

Suggestions?
