Touchscreen and LCD Screen Issue

I have a new Pacifica with less than 1K miles on it and the touchscreen intermittently does not work. You touch the screen and nothing. I turn the van off and come back to it later and all is working. Of course - when I took it to the dealer it was working! Has anyone else had this issue?

Also - when watching a DVD (Blue-Ray or regular) the dark colors look purplish and washed out on the front console screen (when parked or course). They look great on the rear passenger side LCD, but look poorly on the rear driver's side screen as well (very similar to the the way the front console screen looks). Anyone else with this issue?

Hi Tacohen. Some people have had issues with the uconnect on this forum. Looks like your best bet is to take it to they dealership so they can diagnose and repair it. This is not normal. Welcome to the forum and hopefully your issue gets sorted out quickly.

If it turns out to be your front touchscreen that needs replacing then that is a particularly easy item for the dealer to swap out. They just pop off that decorative bezel going around your screen and AC vents and the touchscreen comes off with it. Easy peasy. Hopefully you won't be without your van for several days.

Hi tacohen,
There are currently several Technical Service Bulletins out that may relate to this concern, which include two software updates that must be done consecutively. These are updates 08-074-16 REV B. and 08-081-16. You can provide these TSB numbers and your VIN number to your dealer and they can determine if these are relevant to your vehicle and assess if any further steps are necessary in regards to the updates. If you decide to take your vehicle in to the dealer for these updates or for further diagnosis, feel free to reach out if you need any assistance in scheduling an appointment or following up.

Thanks!

Thanks to all for the replies. I should have mentioned I did take it to the dealer. They said they completed a software update but I'm not sure if they did both updates or what they did. Certainly, the problem persists. They are now talking about switching the radio but I'm not sure if that will work or not. Very nice vehicle otherwise, but this is costing time from work and miles (currently leasing the vehicle!) to get to the dealer so they can work on it. They do seem to be very responsive and willing to help, however. I will provide them with the update numbers to assure we're all on the same page and I go back tomorrow morning for more work on the van.

Thanks,

Tim

Well - after four trips to the dealer, a lot of time lost from work, miles against my lease agreement, and money spent on gas, the touchscreen still freezes. Very frustrating. I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem, and I'm starting to think it may freeze when receiving a text message from an iPhone, but obviously this van was not ready for prime time when it was rolled out. The dealer has done all updates to UConnect, has replaced the console screen, has replaced the radio as well and still the problem persists. Sorry if I sound upset, but when you're paying a lot of money for these options and they don't work, it can make you upset. Most frustrating is when the screen freezes, you cannot turn off the driver heated seat or steering wheel which can get pretty warm after a while. Anyone with an idea would be greatly appreciated.

On top of that - you still cannot watch a movie on the LCD screen behind the driver's seat. Anything black looks purplish and digitized. UGH!

We have the same issue with our Pacifica. The LCD touchscreen intermittenly does not work. The issued started the day after I took delivery of the vehicle!
What's worst is that the issue was caused by using the uconnect assist feature. I pressed the Uconnect assist button for guidance regarding the traffic on the navigation, the call was dropped/system crashed and subsequently the LCD touchscreen seems to only work every other time we turn on the car. Very frusterating given that the uconnect theather was one of the main reasons that we purchased the car and we can't use the feature when the LCD touchscreen is non-responsive. This was our first FCA vehicle (previously only purchased Toyota and BMW) and likely to be our last. Call me crazy, however, I expected the LCD touchscreen to work longer than 24 hours after paying $40k+ for a new car.
