This is good to hear! Given that the Chevy Volt can easily achieve a 33% increase or more in real-world EV range, I bet the Chrysler Pacifica will also out-perform the EPA rating, depending on your driving style.

2017 Chevy Volt LT
Best EV Range: 74 miles (5+ miles per kWh)
Current MPGe: 109
Current Miles: 16,000+

Great! I was also impressed with this: "As for a conventional rating, the EPA only provides a combined city/highway number on the Monroney sticker, and an FCA spokesperson told us that the rating for the Pacifica Hybrid will be 32 MPG. This represents the hybrid working as normal, not in EV-only mode." This is better than the 2017 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited Platinum that I'm also considering, which has a combined rating of 28 MPG.

But wait, the 84MPGe figure is only when running in full electric during the first 30 miles right? When in hybrid mode, it's got to be much less than that. Actually, since the driving range is 566 miles and the tank holds 19 Gal, I guess that's 29.7 MPG combined ?

Correct. When running in gas mode, the mileage will be "up to" 32 mpg. The gas tank in the hybrid is actually only 16 gallons.

MPGe MPG Hybrid

Ok, can someone explain to me how the fuel economy works on the Pacifica Hybrid? I see different numbers and want to correlate them appropriately. It appears to be 80MPGe and 28 Hybrid. Are there ratings for when the battery is completely depleted?
Is Hybrid mode when it is running on gas only or is that with an electric assist? Eg in a Prius I would get about 10MPG when on gas only and 45 when in hybrid mode.
My current understanding:
80 MPGe is a unit measurement for electric only mode.
28 MPG is a unit measurement for electric/gas mode.
-- MPG is a measurement for gas only mode.

There is no "gas only" mode. If the gas engine is running, it's in hybrid mode. Even if the battery is depleted, it's in hybrid mode because there is regeneration going on when going down hills and braking, which helps with efficiency.
