Unhappy Exploding 2017 Chrysler Pacifica window

Our Chrysler was sitting in the driveway. All of a sudden, the rear passengers door window exploded from inside and blew thousands of pieces of glass from within landing outside on the grown.

Has anyone with a late model Pacifica had this happen? It is very scary and afraid it could happen once again. It was the tinted glass on rear slider.

Unfortunately, this can and has happened to many other vehicles, both cars and vans, from every manufacturer. Clean up is a challenge.

If you add your van info (year, trim, gas/hybrid, etc.) to the signature line of the UserCP it will help others know more about your van. If you include build date it might indicate if there were a batch of windows that were defective.

I had a passenger side sliding door window shatter while driving down the street when the van was a month old. At the time there was a question as to whether something was thrown at the window, but in reality I think it would have been difficult for the window to be hit while the van was moving. I have not had a problem with any other windows shattering since then, but it was a horrible experience.

Hello PrissyB,

We're sorry to hear about this unexpected concern. Are you planning to head into the dealer to get an official diagnosis on why this occurred? Send us a direct message if so as we'd be glad to escalate to a case specialist for further handling.

I was driving down I-355 in the Chicagoland area when the right side sliding door shattered just this morning. I truly thought I was getting shot at, being Chicagoland. There is glass everywhere.

So sorry this happened. I understand how you may feel since I had the same sliding door window shatter when my van was only a month old back in 2016. (See earlier post 3.) What year is your van?
If you put your van info (year, trim, gas/hybrid, etc.) in the signature line of the UserCP it will show up at the bottom of each post. Build date is on the driver's door.
