Yep, had the same problem with my 2017 last year. Was replaced with a new hood. Common problem, unfortunately.
You have a 5 year unlimited mile warranty against rust, so this is not something that requires urgency. Just make sure you take care of this any time before the 5 years is up.

Same problem here!

I have the same problem with my 2017 and just took it in yesterday! They were very UNHELPFUL at the dealer but I pushed hard and they finally had me go to their collision center. They took photos and used some sort of electrical analyzer to check the hood for rust. I believe that the 2017 Pacifica hood is aluminum and that may be the problem as they likely did not treat the metal properly before paint. Any way, the dealer is going to "get back to me in a few weeks, hopefully" after they hear back from the warranty people at FCA. This is ABSURD! Why is FCA and their dealers so bad with service? I love our Pacifica but the dealer experience has been the worst of my life. Some simple clear warranty issues and each one I have had to fight to get the service needed. Most times, I leave without the issue being fixed. If they can't fix it or don't know how to at the time, they should just say so.

I will fully expect a NEW hood and paint. A few spot treatments will not be acceptable as the same problem will surely happen in another location on the existing hood.

I just noticed bubbling paint on the hood of my 2017 with < 12,000 miles! I gambled and bought a car that had been in an accident (so salvage title, no warranty) but so far everything else has been great. I hope I'm not stuck replacing hoods (or doors or other parts!) due to poor paint/prep/surface quality! My local dealer recently sent a letter saying they're willing to pay top dollar for these high-demand vehicles. I assume it doesn't apply to one with a salvage title but maybe it's worth asking! I bought it with 4,500 miles on it and it's been through one MN winter so far.

I agree with artsdad - if they try to just "fix" the problem there's no reason to believe it won't pop up somewhere else!!!! (For that matter, what other pieces of the exterior are like this?)

I bought a 2017 last year from a local dealership and just this past week we noticed the front lip of the hood has bubbling all along it! Because it was used, we are out of warranty and couldn't afford the 2-3k up front on top of the initial purchase so we didn't get any additional service plans. Is this something Chrysler will still fix because it's a known issue or are we going to be stuck with a rusting hood on a 2 year old vehicle ? @chryslercare

We had the hood repaired about a month ago. When I was making my appointment, the dealership told me Chrysler doesn't replace hoods anymore. They said they now used some type of sealant (probably an epoxy) and repaint the hoods. I also asked the service writer if there were other areas that were prone to corroding like the hood and they said they've seen a couple of fenders, but almost everything they've seen was on the hood.

The body shop said Chrysler has a 5 year warranty on paint from date of manufacture, which you can find on the drivers door.

I have the same thing on my 2017. We took it to the dealership 4 weeks ago. They took some pictures and never got back to us. Left them a couple voice mails this weekend. I get the impression they don't want to have to deal with it..... Since we took it in 4 weeks ago we noticed a second spot start to blister as well.

This is our first Chrysler and I'm starting to get a bit concerned.....

Been through the whole paint, hood issue and fortunately they replaced and painted the hood. The job was superb and you'd never be able to tell. Now to my point this is a good reason that my wife and I like leasing our vehicles. If we encounter a problem and it's not perhaps fixed to our total satisfaction (I'm fussy) we know that we have to just wait it out, and we'll be able to hand the keys over and walk away from that particular vehicle and get into a new one. Leasing is not for everyone, but for us it's the only way to go, new vehicle every 3 years, and generally it's under bumper to bumper warranty for the length of our ownership.

I have a 2017 Pacifica with about 50,000 miles on it. I have bubbling on the front, side and under the hood (can see from drivers seat). I took it into the dealership and they said they will send the pics to Chrysler and wait for a response. I assume that is because this in not an uncommon problem and they have a process for addressing with Chrysler. I do not want to drive around in a rust bucket after only a few years!! Fingers crossed this is addressed. Otherwise I love my minivan.
