Replacing overhead DVD player

The overhead DVD player that comes in Touring-L does not play many recent video formats. Any suggestion to replace it with flip down bluray player?

Are you saying it won't play some DVDs or just that it won't play Blu-rays? The overhead DVD player is just a Mopar accessory, so I would think it could be replaced with any aftermarket fold down unit fairly easily.

DVD playback is fine, but the other sources like USB/SD card does not play anything other than the MPEG/MPEG2 video formats. MP4( i think the default video format of these days) format is not recognized at all. So, i am checking if i can replace it with a blu-ray player which would support all recent video formats. The overhead DVD that comes installed from the factory has the feature of switching to the AUX source whenever the screen is opened. I doubt if this will be supported by other aftermarket players.

There's probably just an aux cable running from the screen to the head unit, and the head unit is switching to aux when the screen is powered on just like it would if you manually plugged something into the aux port. If you can find another unit that has an aux output above the headliner line, it would likely work.

I have the same system and mine works flawlessly. You have to formate the flash drive to FAT32 and just save the .mp4 files to the root. I just uploaded a YouTube video showing how it works. Hope that helps!
