Hi kingfisher,

I commented on a past thread--your level is fine. The brand would like to see them filled higher than the minimum, but there is nothing wrong with it being at that line. For peace of mind, if you wanted a dealer to fill it a bit higher, we're happy to reach out on your behalf.

Coolant usage

Are there any known issues with coolant usage on these vehicles? Ours has about 20000 miles and I noticed the level was far below the minimum line, like just slightly above the height of the hose connection at the bottom. I got the correct coolant today and expected it to just take a small amount, but it took a full liter to get back to barely above the minimum line. If I've got an issue, I want to get it to the dealer while still under warranty. No visible leakage with a cursory inspection.

My Jeep (also Chrysler engine) simply consumes coolant. Maybe this is a systemic Chrysler problem.

I've got a 2017 Touring L with 66k and have noticed signs that I may have a coolant leak. I have a gurgling behind the dash after car shutdown (air in the line?) and my coolant reservoir is well below the minimum level (leaking someplace). Reading online here, I am seeing that radiator leaks are common with this car/year? I haven't noticed any pooling of fluid under the car, but haven't inspected anything inside. I haven't been to the dealer yet to have this investigated, but growing a bit frustrated in concern that we do have leak someplace.

IF the car is cold, the level being at the Min line is fine. If you add up to the max line, when the engine warms up, the coolant will expand and push out coolant. If the engine is hot, the coolant will be much closer to the max line.

Hello catboy,

If you end up going into the dealer, let us know. We're available via direct message and would be happy to help along that process.

I just noticed the same problem. 2017 touring L. I just picked it up from the dealer for having my rusting hood repainted and having it checked for a knocking at low speed and they didn't notice it below the low line. Should I drive to the dealer to get them to add some before making another appointment? I have some coolant but it doesn't seem to meet that very specific 12160 spec.
