A little farther than the length of the dipstick.
When you think it is all gone, pump the evacuator a few times while moving the sucker tube up and down a little.
It will go from the sound of an empty malted milk to more oil or just air.

Yeah, it's amazing that after about 8100 miles, the oil level was still exactly full and I extracted exactly 5 quarts. When I added 5 quarts, it was right to the full line. I've changed my own oil for many years but never seen that happen before.

Funny how that worked out, its almost like they designed it for using the evacuator!

Garage
Fumoto's have a quick release type lever that allows you to drain the oil without pulling the plug. They are nice too but require you to be under the van for it. Not that it's bad; they're really cool and quick.

I'm glad to hear the plug's reachable without jacking. I have no Fumoto on the Pac and don't yet have an extractor. Good to know!

I like and use Fomoto valves on my vehicles that are no longer under warranty AND won’t accept the Oil Extractor tube.

I wish all my vehicles had topside oil filters that could be replaced while the Oil Extractor is doing its thing.
