What type of replacement battery?

I've never replaced a car battery, but after two years with our Pacifica, a failed battery doesn't surprise me. While there is some great info here about HOW to replace a battery, I have no idea WHAT I'm looking for when I go to replace it. 12v? 14v? There seems to be so many size options with batteries too - how do you know it's going be the right one?

I've got a gas 2017 (non-ESS).

I'll just answer my own question based on what I've learned...

Yes, it all maters. The battery size for the Pacifica is H7 but also referred to as L4 and 94R it seems. There are different batteries for the gas with and without ESS.

I have yet to pull the trigger to replace.

I'm not sure what the warranty is on OEM batteries, but you might want to check with your dealer. There may be some pro-rate value still left in your old battery.

I just bought a 2018 new that was manufactured Nov 2017. It has been on a dealer lot 11 months. I asked the salesperson about the battery, and he indicated to me that the battery would be covered for 12 months under the standard Chrysler warranty. So over 12 months since purchase it probably would have no coverage.

Here is a link related to the 2017 for which the battery was warrantied for three years, so I would double check the warranty. I thought the new vehicle warranty began on the "in service date" which is when it became the property of the buyer, not the dealer. There have been some gas Pacifica batteries that didn't last a year, but they still had a three year warranty. It is best to check the battery warranty information.

Don't the places that sell batteries have a computer to look up the information?

Not surprised.

At my 1 year service I had my dealer do a battery test noting the ESS system always said "ESS disabled charging battery".

They ended up replacing both the main battery and ESS battery on the 12 month warranty for free.

Well, just had my main and ESS batteries both replaced under warranty, 6 days after purchase, since the 2018 Pacifica sat on the lot for 11 months and the ESS battery was shot (stop/start would never work - battery always "charging" even after a 1hr 40min trip). The main battery started the van and I had no issues with it, but they said it tested bad so replaced it for me. That's great service, BTW. Initially I was told since I wasn't having a problem with it they wouldn't test it, but I requested them too since it had sat on the lot 11 months and the ESS battery was already bad.

The new Mopar main battery says on the label it has a free 3-year replacement warranty. To the OP - even though my salesman told me the battery would only be covered for one year, I would still try to get the dealership to replace the battery. 2 years is an extremely short lifespan for a vehicle battery.

do we have answer to this situation

my pacifica was purchased in jan 17 and has 33K miles, and the battery seemed to have died

vehicle didnt start until it was jumped...

the voltage reads 14.3 running and off it runs 12.3 so i thought it should be good.

the check engline light has also come on. so i dont know if there is some other issue too
