I do not think that's unique to just the ESS versions... I thought the same thing when I bought mine last year - it was the quietest vehicle I've ever owned re: starting.

REMOTE starting, I had to look out the window to be sure I could see the lights. All other cars, I could HEAR them crank-over and idle - not loud, but perceptible in the quiet hours of 4:00 a.m. - not the Pacifica... I need to give a visual check.

How did you manage to turn it off? For the life of me, I can't find the button / switch / method to disable it. Thanks!

I just took possession yesterday of a new, 8-passenger limited. It does have the ESS option and it is absolutely something I would prefer not to have or at least prefer the ability to disable permanently. My wife doesn't like it either and she's a lot more tolerant of things like that. Is it mostly seamless? Yes. Is it (relatively) quick? Yes. However, even that slight amount of, call it "input lag", on resuming after the engine shuts off at a stop light, is extremely jarring to me. It's hard enough for a minivan drive to feel engaging, but then to add another layer of separation between the driver and the road just makes it worse.

Still looking for the trick to disable it. Foggy brain from Flu-recovery isn't helping.

It's the button with the A with the circle arrow around it. 4th button from the left in my picture.

Are you kidding me? It's been staring me in the face all this time?

What the heck does an A with a circle arrow have to do with ESS!?

Thanks so much though, I'll go try it now.

It's also known as "autostop" hence the "A".

How did you determine that? In the owner's manual I have "2017-Pacifica-OM-1st.pdf", there's only a blank for that particular button.
Do you have a more recent copy of the owner's manual that includes the ESS "A" button on the switch panel?

Yes the current owners manual is the 6th edition. Download it from mopar.com. Try page 337.

Sounds simple in theory, but in reality either the web site is broken or I really have overdone the Nyquil lately. Do you have the pdf filename that I can just Google on?

Go to mopar.com. Click on Care. Click on Owner's Manual. Click Add A Vehicle. Select Chrysler, then 2017, then Pacifica.
