Floor vents - an issue...?
Good day, everyone. Recent purchaser here in north-east U.S. - just outside of Boston.
My hope was to make a pattern of the inside floor area behind the second-row with the 3rd-row seats stowed... cut commercial-grade carpet to fit... then have the edges "bound" at a carpet place nearby. I have done this for prior vehicles for when I want to use the back as cargo area but not ruin the factory carpet/upholstery. It has worked great in the past.
As I was looking at the back yesterday, I noticed a feature that is probably GREAT for passengers; Vents in the floor.
My concern is covering-up those vents with carpeting... having the vent system trying to push air through ducts that are essentially blocked by carpet and/or gear in the back... especially if it's hot air in the winter.
Do you think I am overthinking it and it's no issue to cover those vents... or should I cut openings to allow air to pass-through...? The flip side is that keeping them exposed also exposes them to dirt, gravel, dust, debris, etc. getting INTO those openings.
