How to remove rear console drawer?

So somehow a DVD got trapped on the outside of the rear console drawer (that faces the 2nd row) and now it won't close. I suspect there is a release somewhere, but couldn't find it. I imagine this is not the first instance of this happening in the Pacificaverse. Help (and thanks).

May have to remove the console and access it from the bottom

There's a handle on the bottom of the drawer. Pull up to release it.

OK so removing the black lip just revealed a sealed compartment with no access to the area behind the drawer. I can't imagine there is no way back there that doesn't involve taking it to the dealership. What a stupid design flaw. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks.

After reading though this thread, I may be inclined to cut an access hole in that panel underneath the rolltop compartment before I install my newly acquired super console.

Did anyone figure this out? I have the same problem with a DVD case stuck behind the drawer. I've taken every screw I can find off the console but still unable to remove. Also, I cannot find a lever underneath the drawer (like someone suggested) to remove the drawer completely (like you can with a dresser drawer).

Maybe there is a Chryslercares coupon or TSB that will allow owners to bring in their Pacifica at least once for no charge to address this issue. They need to affix something to the back of that drawer to prevent stuff from falling behind or provide a mechanism for the entire drawer to pull out. Really sucks having this drawer permanently extended.

I still haven't installed my super console, so I took a look at the drawer bottom. The drawer if fixed to the slide on the bottom by three screws on each side. The other end of the slides are screwed to the base, again, accessed only from the bottom. There should be a spring release to separate the slide parts, but I couldn't find any. Yeah, not a very user-friendly design.
