@SteveK This is the answer I was looking for!

Thank you for saving the me the hassle of pulling the entire console. Seeing how you took the plastic off the the drawer is just a good as removing it.

Phew...

Just bought a used 2018 Limited. What do you do if the drawer is stuck fully closed? Seems like whatever internal latch mechanism is in there is broken. The outside handle lifts up with ease, but the drawer will not budge at all.

Ideas?

Just here to say a big thanks to @SteveK for his suggestion. While we have a Hybrid so the stow and go wasn't the issue - my 3 year old son was very sad that his Mickey Mouse Clubhouse DVD had gone missing and I was more than frustrated that I couldn't close the drawer anymore. After some failed attempts with some wire and tape I found your post and with the help of my husband, some pliers, and a cell phone flashlight it was out. I would note that we were most successful pulling on the plastic from the bottom. It took more pressure than I wanted to put on it so that's where my husband came in Now if anyone figures out how to make it so this doesn't happen again I would appreciate a fix.

I saw your PMs but thought I would address this publicly since others are asking about it as well. Unfortunately the console drawer is not removable by the customer. It requires removal of seat side shields and 4 screws that hold the console down. My contact advised me that they will keep an eye on this issue and determine the occurrence and impact to future development. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I have exactly the same problem. DVD case slipped over the top of the drawer and down inside and now it will not close. They either should make it so the drawer removes easily or make the back of the drawer taller to stop anything going behind. I've had the vehicle for 1 month and just made an appointment with the service department. I will NOT be paying to get this resolved.

That was the exact problem I had. Turns out it's a 5-second fix, after you remove the console... There is a small cable from the latch handle that runs to the release mechanism on the bottom of the drawer. In my case, the cable had popped-off the release lever, and was no longer pulling the release.

The fix unfortunately requires you to remove the console - sorry, only way to do it. Review the post back a few pages with this link in it: https://www.pacificaforums.com/forum...7&d=1546114314

I found it wasn't really wasn't too bad if you follow the directions - PLUS - run the seats the whole way forward to remove the rear inner track covers, then back to access the front track covers, then remove the front left and right bolts (the ones on the side) by accessing them from the front under each front seat. Then move the seat full forward again to remove the rear set of bolts accessed from under the rear of the front seats. Then two nuts in the front, and out it comes... I found a 1/4" drive ratchet with a 6" extension and a 10mm socket was just right. A ratcheting torx driver is also handy for removing the 4 track cover screws which are a bit of a pain to get at.

Also, be careful to remove the 3 electrical connectors.

Once you have it out, you may be able to just force the drawer open with a sharp pull - that's what I did. If so, you can probably repair the latch without the next step. If not, remove the 8 (perhaps 10?) screws on the bottom that hold the drawer slides in - don't miss the two right at the back partially hidden by the rear cover. Remove the drawer and you'll see the release mechanism on the bottom of the drawer. Likely the cable popped-out and can just be hooked back up.

Thanks! I bought from CarMax and decided to call them and ask about it, they said it would be fixed under 30 day warranty. They replaced the whole console.

BrettP, came in thinking I was going to have to drill a hole in the roll-top door to get at my wallet and daughter's phone, stuck inside. Then found your old post and PRESTO! Thanks!!
