I am an older guy, but not a luddite. I have approximately 300 books on CDs, an upgrade from books on cassette tape. I play/listen to the books on CD in my 2017 Pacifica Limited (ICE). I find the audio system resets to something different almost every time from when I shutdown the engine to next startup. I've looked for a pattern, but, have not found one. Sometimes I have to go back through uConnect, then media, then ... Sometimes I discover the CD is playing but I cannot hear it and have to once again select "Listen In."
Even though I shutdown listening to a CD book, sometimes the system on startup goes to Satellite. Sometimes to the CD book, but, I have to select "Listen In." Other times, something different.
I almost exclusively use the sound system for listening to books on CDs. I would rip the CDs to MP3 and to a USB, but, the track file properties of the CD files preclude delivering the book tracks and chapters on a USB in the correct order for playback. Of course, I could upgrade from CDs to something like Audible, but, to pay for the books again, well, I've learned to live with it. I'm one of those readers that reads books multiple times. For new books, I download to a USB drive. For the 300 or so on CDs, well, I will read/listen to them again about every three to four years.
