Undercarriage panel drooping normal?

I've had my PHEV hybrid for a month now. As I was walking towards the car from the rear about 100' away, I noticed that the undercarriage panel seems to droop on the driver's side. Specifically, the panel seems to buckle downward right behind the rear wheel, as if the panel were too large. The corners seem to be secured. Is this drooping normal? I understand the battery is in this general area, but there seems to be plenty of space above the panel. The panels on the gas model seem to be flush.
