Smells like a dead animal and not charging

Since Sunday my car smells like an animal has died in it. It is horrible!! I have emptied it vacuumed and washed and find nothing. Also, since Sunday it no longer charges. My EV Juice app says it is charging and claims to have a full battery but when I get in the car it is 0%. For many months now the screen in the car says there is a problem with the external charger but it always charged anyway. I don't know how or if these issues are related but they happened at the same time. I really need that smell gone!

My Pachy had a terrible smell the first night I had it home when charging. It was bad enough to stink up the whole house. I also had water coming from the rear of the vehicle while charging, enough to run about 8 feet across the garage. Turned out to be a failed 12V battery.

Check out the thread "Dead battery adventures"
I believe the PacHy abuses the 12V battery and there will be more and more of them failing in the next couple of years. A dead 12V battery is normally no problem in a regular car. But put one in the passenger compartment, make it critical to the health of a really complex electrical system and then abuse it = Really bad PR and an elusive cause to many other symptoms/failures in other subsystems... Especially if there is an inadequate health monitoring system for the 12V battery.
So is there an adequate health monitoring system for the 12V battery and has it effectively warned anyone of impending 12V battery failure...ever???
From what I have read, there appears to be more than a few incidences of the automatic charging system for the 12V battery continuing to attempt to charge the battery when it should not (battery was abused to the point of damage). This is the cause of the bad smell as well as discharged water (condensate).

It's NOT Rocket Science!!!!

Hi Mrs65cobra,
We're terribly sorry that you are experiencing this. We suggest having your dealer look into this for you. You may also send us a private message if you would like any additional assistance while your vehicle is at the dealership.

This is a most helpful contribution. I wonder if Chrysler will be able to develop a patch for this, because otherwise it's a pretty significant defect. I also just posted a thread wondering if there is any chance that this tendency of the vehicle to 'want' to charge the 12v might also explain some of the weird ICE behavior people have been reporting (the ICE engaging more often than would seem necessary given battery level and weather conditions).
