Buying a new 2018 PacHy that's been sitting on the lot

I'm planning to buy a new Pacifica Hybrid in the next week and noticed that some dealerships near me still have some 2018s on their lots, and they're being heavily discounted. For example, one of the dealerships is advertising several 2018s in Limited trim with the Advanced SafetyTec package for $38,385 + tax, tag, and title. This is several thousand dollars cheaper than I can get a 2019 for, so I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything. Most importantly:
  • Are there any mechanical concerns about buying a 2018 instead of a 2019?
  • Are there any mechanical concerns about buying a Pacifica Hybrid that's been sitting on a dealership's lot for a year or longer?

From my understanding the feature differences between 2018 and 2019 are minimal, the IRS tax credit still applies to newly-purchased 2018s, and the warranty starts when I buy the car regardless of its model year. This just seems like a really good deal to me and I want to make sure I'm not making a mistake somewhere

Thanks!

Sounds like a great deal. So, additions for '19 include memory seats and the S package, along with a few other smaller add-ons I can't remember. If those don't matter to you, I'd say go for it - make sure that the van is in condition having sat in a lot for a year or so. ~$31k for a Limited Hybrid is not shabby at all.

A little 'too' good, maybe TGTBT.

Some dealers have been very bad at including not only every rebate (most of which won't apply and even some the dealers just make up) as well as the $7500 tax credit in these low 'bait-and-switch' prices. On top of that, they add the disclaimer that the low price does not include mandatory dealer add-ons. They want you in the door and, often times, the final price is nowhere near what was advertised (and often 'more' than MSRP).

The bottom line is that virtually every dealer is a shifty weasel and you have to watch them very closely, particularly on these low advertised prices.

Agree.
What has served me well is that for televangelists, car dealers and real estate agents, I always assume they are telling lies, unless there is proof otherwise.
Seems honest ones are a minority - they do exist, but are rare.
