LEVEL 2 Charge Times

Hi All-
can't seem to find this but has anyone with experience with 16a 240v level2 chargers? It seems the current one we have is very popular on Amazon but doesn't give the advertised charge time of 2hrs. What are peoples charge times on level 2? Mine is about 4hrs with this setup and I'm wondering what other people are getting.
Also, whats the amp rating on the Mopar level2 charger? maybe thats my problem..

typical lv2 charger is 240V-32A.
You have 16A, so basically getting half of power(which means double time) than typical 32A charger. still lv2 tho.

4hrs looks pretty accurate for that charger.

FYI, the charger comes with the car is 12A with 120V and 240V.
If you connect it to 240V circuit, it is 240V-12A, and takes about 5hrs 20mins.

Not much point in buying a 16A charger versus using the one supplied with the van on 240v using an adapter for the 115v plug to 240V. You would only gain (12 divided by 16) a small 25% time improvement reduction.

That's about the same as commercial in the US. Residential here is 240V, so it's a little faster.

That sounds about right for 16A. I have a 20A and it takes 3 hours and a 30A that takes 2 hours.

OP, have you purchased the 16A already? If not, get a higher Amp one if your house can handle it.

I have one of my GE DuraStation charges set to 20A and when we plug the Pacifica to it, it is just a little over 3.5 hours if I remember.

Thanks for all the responses its amazing how many different types of charging options people are using. I actually have purchased but I can return or exchange it for a 32amp one which should put me in the 2hr range. Its gonna be a matter of swapping out the circuit breaker for 40amp and redoing the wiring to the receptacle but that will be worth if i think since I've already gone thru all this : )

@CANADAHYBRIDGUY -- interesting comparison...

I have a JuicePro 32 and I notice that it does not feed all 32 amps to the car, in fact it maxes out at about 6.6-6.8 KW, which makes it about 28 amps at 240 volts. So it seems like the car is throttling down the JuicePro back to 28 amps, but the Juicer 40 is able to push more juice to the car so it charges faster?

Also I noticed that the last 10 minutes of charging, the JuicePro will push much less juice, it is probably just topping it off...?

It is actually the car pulling less current, not the Juicebox pushing less. The car side always negotiates the terms. My Volt does the same thing during the last 10 minutes. Partially to protect the battery when approaching "full" charge, even if that is not physically full capacity. Also likely switching from a constant current charge to constant voltage, balancing all the cells at completion.
