THE WARNING LIGHT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL IS ON. SOMETIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE POWER STEERING WILL WORK AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL NOT WORK. IT DOES NOT DO IT ALL THE TIME AND IS VERY RANDOM."

They also had the issue where it would shut off at various times, like going in reverse and then turning. Sometimes in the rain. A very intermittent problem. We had many associates here put 200 miles on it all together and could not recreate the concern. Whenever we would return the vehicle to the customer, they would run into the same issue.

The steering has a module attached to the rack and pinion gear. The part number comes with this note: "If any of the following DTCs exist, it is okay to replace the steering gear: C2217-00, C15C1-00 (EPS Mechanical Performance) or C15DB-00 (Latch Active)"e

We did not have these codes, so we talked to Chrysler and they said to go ahead and replace the steering gear.

We returned the vehicle to the customer, and they came back with the same issues. We now have the vehicle again. Chrysler has told us (through very frustrating conversation) to try and swap the PDC (the fuse box in the engine compartment) with a known working vehicle. We are at a holding point now, because we don't want to risk taking a $400 dollar part out of a new vehicle and potentially ruining it. And the part it self is so new that the only one available was bought by another dealer a few days ago. We are also not guaranteed a solution to the problem.

I hope this helps, and hopefully there is some more information out there to move forward on these issues. Seems like it could be popping up more.
Have you carefully checked all grounds, every single one, checking both ends. Start with grounds going to all computing chips. Years ago I had a similar phantom issue of major effects to driving , like engine going to wide open throttle at stop lights. Almost never the same. I had filed a federal complaint and factory was being pressed to start a recall. Finally 4 gents from GM factory came and worked on car for 3 days before thry found a loose nut on a ground in the trunk. That ground was for above other things, the central processing module.

I have just had the same issue. And, of course, the dealer tells me there is nothing wrong with the car.

What was the end result with you??

So sorry to here this GTeacher5, You need to be added to the list of others that have this issue. Also there is a Chrysler "Specialist" on this forum that can assist you further with other Chrysler contacts that can help you escalate this

2017 Pacifica Stalling Out

Within the past week, my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica stalled out twice without warning. The dealer says the problem cannot be re-created and therefore, "The car is fine." When I am adamant that there is something wrong, my complaints are met with frustration and exasperation. I've seen the other posts. This problem is not an isolated issue with my vehicle alone. My car has less than 6000 miles on it and is just over a year old. I drive in this car everyday with three children. It is not safe and something must be done.

If this continues to happen on gas vans there has to be a recall to something soon. The list is growing.

I was planning on getting a 2018 Limited in November December but until there is an official fix, I may put my decision on hold. I wouldn't be surprised if they delay 2018 production until they figure this out.

@gteacher Definitely file a report with NHTSA. You can do it online and it's very quick. PM the rep on here, although I had to call daily and complain to get anywhere. I refused to pick up my car and demanded that they either keep testing until they find the problem, or call someone who can. I lucked out and an engineer from Detroit happened to be in town and was able to check mine out. I also demanded that my case be escalated, which resulted in a phone call from an executive in Detroit. I'll add you to the list. Gas version, right?
