Uconnect theater malfunction

We have had our 2018 Touring L Plus for a week. On our trip to the store today, Uconnect theater worked as usual without trouble. On the way home, when I tried to access the Uconnect theater screen to press the Listen In option, the theater screen was black (ultimately unable to access any theater options). I tried turning the car on and off and trying again multiple times without success. Tried again several hours later and itís working. Good news, but I anticipate this is something that will continue to happen intermittently. Anyone had this problem? Is this something that a simple reboot would fix or do I need to head back to the dealership?

You have to upgrade the software through dealer. Make a dealer trip but make sure they have downloaded the upgrade software. If they didn't, you have to wait 3 hours. If they did, I was told it takes little less time to upgrade.

Thanks

Hi SLMB42,

We apologize for the unexpected concern with your Uconnect theater. Are you thinking of making your Chrysler dealer aware? We're available via private message if we can be of assistance with this.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Seeing similar issues with my 2018 Hybrid. Very erratic though. It works for days without issue and then bringing up screen control menu shows blank. Movie plays on back screens fine, but can't do anything from front. I'm not able to replicate, but it does seem to be more likely to occur when I'm switching from listening to podcast (via bluetooth) and then trying to switch to Theater menu. I believe I'm on the current version of Uconnect (VRM Software P/N: 174811)

I am having the same issue as well. Is there any fix? Drives our family nuts and makes every road trip more stressful. Van is less than 2 months old.

Try ejecting the DVD when this happens. That seemed to bring it back up on mine.

We’ve tried ejecting the disc, restarting the van, unplugging Items from the USB ports, and more. It seems completely random and unpredictable. The only times it seems to work correctly 100% of the time is after the van sits overnight. This isn’t an option on road trips. We see the issue almost every time we stop for lunch or gas on a road trip. The system won’t work right the rest of the day and then magically the next day it will work fine.

We have had the same problem. I have a 2018 Pacifica Limited with 4500 miles on it. It has been in the shop 3 times so far with this problem, with no good fix yet. First, they replaced the amplifier. Second, they replaced the video router module under the passenger seat. Third, they updated the entertainment system with an update from Chrysler STAR. The dealership has a request in with STAR to replace the whole radio. I am so frustrated! Has anyone been able to resolve their problems???

Make sure you donít have any Uconnect software updates still open.

I had a recent vrm and radio flash become available which seems to have eliminated a lot of these issues.

We were on a 8 hour road trip with less than 1k miles on a new touring L Plus 2018 with uconnect theater. Stopped working early in the trip. After hours of loading our disks on a thumb drive to watch. Exact same experience...up front it showed uconnect, but no “screens” for the back, media options, etc.

Called all numbers for guardian, Chrysler, the service at the dealer, etc. Sunday, nobody staffed. I was told it had to go to service for a day to perform diagnostics.

Same, tried to start stop engine on the side of I80, and then got to thinking, the system needs a good reboot but it’s probably always getting power even with engine off (no run, no acc).

I started pulling fuses to remove power from the radio/Sirrus/uconnect/etc.

If I remember correctly, the fuse that did (what I call) a reboot was “F76” labeled “uconnect/center display/telematics”.

This worked right away, a normal start of the van brought everything back. Just like normal!

Hope it helps you!

Regards
