Fuel consumption

Hi!
I have a 17' touring L +.
Since I have the car the average gas usage on the highway was 30-32 miles per a gallon.
About a month ago it went down to 22-24 miles per gallon on relatively flat terrain; I usually drive long distances 1k-2k miles on the highway.
Not sure what is the reason for that; I had the latest recalls done on the car[the one with the cruise control]; not positive if that could effect it.
The car drives fine, no check engine light, nothing seems to be out of the ordinary.
Oil and filters are changed regularly.
I was wondering if any of you have experienced the same and/if have the solution for it.
I will take the car to the service hopefully in a week.
Thanks for any feedback.

Are the speeds and routes consistent? I'm just guessing since I haven't seen this. In my experience, I've seen over 30 mpg on roads with speed limits at 65 or less. On the interstate, I generally see around 28 mpg. I haven't seen fuel mileage drop to 23 on the highway.

Looking at your distance traveled and driving time, it looks like you average speed was under 70 mph. Maybe it's something related to maintenance, air filter etc.

What was the weather? It can have a substantial impact on fuel economy.

For example, last weekend I made my typical run up to Dallas. It’s 275 miles of mostly state and US highways. The Pac typically returns high 20s on the trip, and will touch 30 under good conditions. But last week there was a 20-30mph headwind. Trip mpg up was 24, which didn’t seem unreasonable to me.

Hi!
I drove from and to:
Dallas-San Francisco-Dallas-Houston-Lake Ozarks[MO]
Roughly 4,5k miles
The weather was various but not so bad; the car is maintained.
I get it that the consumption could be various due to the above; but it is much less as it use to be and stays in that range.
To me it is a significant change in the gas usage.
Thanks,

Maybe something going on with the transmission not shifting into the upper gears? There is a thread on the Forum that says what the engine rpm, speed and gear should be.

Hi zzandler,
If you feel this is something you would like your dealer to look into, you may also send us a private message where we can gather some additional information from you and add an extra layer of assistance while your Pacifica is at the dealer.

I have an appointment on 12/6 at the dealer; let see if they can or it can be resolved.
I was thinking of the gears too; I look at the chart
It is hard to track of the gears for a long period of time; not sure why it isn't displayed on the screen like many other brands.
I have couple other issues manly with the power lift gate; and the screen brightness still bugging me why it cannot be adjusted with headlights on.
Anyways thanks for the help and I will let you know what the results were at the service.
Regards,

I had a similar experience. Someone said it was probably a combination of colder temps and winter blend of gas and driving thru a snow event. My transmission is fine, I even kept an eye on the rpms and everything was where they normally at just a higher fuel consumption.

There are a lot of variables. Temperature, weatherization of the fuel, octain, alcohol or not, elevation, wind speed ....

How's everyone's MPG local? I have a 2018 with 20" S package wheels and only has 1000 miles so far on it...averaging roughly 15-16 mpg locally and maybe 25 mpg on the high way...do you guys think the 20" and the car being new (not break in yet) has to do with it on the below average MPG I'm seeing? Thanks ~
