Chrysler Dealer Experience, let's make money while we fix

Great dealer experience at

Nyle Maxwell Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Austin
Austin, TX
(512) 518-1097

So I call due to two issues with my vehicle (2017 pacifica limited),

- paint bubbling on the hood
- fogging in front camera.

And I am told, they need to keep the car for 24 to 48 hrs to do a diagnosis and offer me a rental at $35/day for this period. So basically they make money off you via rentals when you come for issues with the sub-par product? Good scheme.

Unbelievable.

@ChryslerCares is this standard Chrysler customer care?

Garage
I would demand a rental/loaner on their dime for any repairs in or out of warranty.
Am I being naive.
Hopefully I won't be finding out any time soon.

Good luck with your repairs, and I hope they won't cost you anything!

Hi ut666,
Thanks for reaching out. We understand your frustration. Being provided a loaner vehicle by your dealer depends on many factors, including the availability of loaner vehicles and whether or not the work being done on your vehicle is covered under warranty. With that said, I cannot determine what your dealer's process is for providing loaner vehicles but you are welcome to send us a private message to discuss this further and we'll be happy to look into this to see if there's anything we can do on our end to help.

@ChryslerCares Thank you for taking the time to read and respond.

I have solved the issue by going to a different dealer. The experience was completely different.
They did not once mention charging for a rental, which I still find ludicrous for a vehicle which is still under warranty with <25k miles.
And will be working to find a schedule where a loaner vehicle is available.

Again, night and day, Nyle Maxwell Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Austin must just be a bad apple in the bunch which give Chrysler a bad name.

Hi ut666,
you're welcome. I do apologize for the experience you had at the first dealer. Please send us a private message if you need any additional assistance once you are able to leave your vehicle at the dealer.

I was curious about the dealers history as a bad apple and didn't seem to be the case. Maybe not a star dealership but did something good enough for owners to post about it. That is the power of the Internets.

The bad experience with services could have started with a good experience buying. Mixed experience can work on restaurants. That all depends on the skill of the server on that night. The branch (Where the apple is.) may be withering and hasn't flowered for years. Be careful of that branch. That branch could have been bought by an Auto Group at one time.

Haven't people learned by watching Fail videos that you don't jump for the furthest branch over the lake even if it looks sturdy? The sturdy part of the branch may be some gnarled footstep that the kids have been using to climb for a decade before finding new growth. Where this analogy is going I have no idea. Haha! But anyways. Dealership experience may change as staff is rotated and replaced. The 'good' experience may never happen again once 'The Good One' retires. Or the bad apple was held up by one bad stem that NEEDS to retire. Heh.

That rental issue shouldn't have happened regardless. I'm happy it went a better direction at the other dealer. Bubbling paint.... infuriating.
