Unhappy Lemon Law?

SO I love the vehicle. I don't love phone calls saying the vehicle just stopped for no reason while my wife and 3 kids are in the car. I've taken it in 2 times already. One about 700 miles on it and another at 5200 miles for the loss of drive while in motion and the engine turning off abruptly before a complete stop. First time they said it was the gas... (BS). The second time they said they didn't know why but did a upgrade to the CPU that was needed. It has 9700 miles and it happened again. I didn't do the recall as it was scheduled for tomorrow but my concern is once I get it done if it happens again i want out but i'm 2 months from 12 month lemon law. The last time it happened was 4 months ago.

I'm not sure how the lemon law applies to this condition since the only thing they can go off of is my complaints and nothing is in the memory of the car, plus now there is a recall on it for the stalling and if it fixes it Perfect i'm happy. If it doesn't I didn't pay 30K for a car that shuts off with my family in it.

Welcome to the forum. If you put your van info in the signature line of the UserCP it might help others answer your questions.

If you use the search feature of the forum there are many posts about lemon laws. From what I understand they vary from state to state. You need to see if info came with your van or check on the lemon laws in your state to see if your van qualifies. You probably still need to have the latest recall done since that is an attempt by the manufacturer to try to solve the stalling problem. Just because you want to get rid of the van doesn't mean that you can do it under a lemon law without it meeting the criterion. Sorry.

If you have a 2018 Pacifica there is another Technical Service Bulletin (18-001-19 REV. C) dated 6/12/19 you might want to have your dealer check also.

Thanks SciTchr,

I don't want to get rid of it at all, I enjoy it and 100% want to give the company an opportunity to fix the problem if in fact they know what it is. Software issues are very hard to diagnose and my biggest fear is in month 14 I have another problem and by then I'm past the law of the state and now stuck with a problematic car that is unsafe to drive. I'm new to these type of problems as my other new vehicles I've owned were Subaru, Toyota, Mazda, and Honda with only an AC issue on the Honda. Fingers crossed this fix is the one!

Seriously take @SciTchr 's advice and bring that BRAND NEW DATED TODAY JUNE 12th Service Bulletin to your service advisor's attention. It addresses problems similar to yours. They likely will not know about it, so copy the picture and hand it to them.

Keep all your documents relating to the problem. If it goes past the warranty date, you will need them as proof.

Hi Repent711,

You've got some great advice here. Before you head back into the dealer, if you need an additional layer of assistance while working with the dealer, let me know. Our team is available via direct message and would be happy to escalate a case for further handling.

Appreciate the help and feedback from all. The recall fix was performed and the TSB SciThr provided was also performed. I hope this will fix the gremlin plaguing some of the Pacifica's.
