Sorry for the all CAPS below but I just copied and pasted this from the NHTSA website for a complaint on February 23, 2018.

ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX. 25MPH ON A SNOW COVERED STREET IN THE DARK. LOST ALL POWER AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AND WAS STRANDED IN MIDDLE OF STREET WITH TRAFFIC ALL AROUND. ENGINE RESTARTED AFTER A NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS. VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN UPDATED WITH RECALL TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE IN JANUARY OF 2017 (U01/NHTSA 18V-049). CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND EXPECT ANOTHER SOFTWARE RECALL TO BE READY IN APRIL. THEY REQUESTED THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE AND PROVIDED AN RENTAL CAR UNTIL UPDATE WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE.

This makes it seem like U01 is not the actual fix and another software update will be coming out? The information in this complaint does not match up with what has been discussed on the last couple pages of this thread. This all is extremely confusing and Chrysler's handling of this entire issue has been abysmal. @ChryslerCares can you weigh in on this if it is indeed accurate that a software upgrade separate from T23/U01 is incoming?

I would just point out that neither of these are the stalls U01 (and EGR/PCM) addressed, since the vehicle did not immediately restart. [and I don't think "all" power lost is symptom either -- just power steering and brake assist fading.] As has been stated by many of us, U01/PCM/EGR is not a universal fix, and it is not clear yet if it a complete fix for 2017 stall/restart/no codes. But I think it is safe to say it IS "a" fix, and should be applied. The NHTSA note about another update in the works is very interesting news. @ChryslerCares - can you confirm?

I think it would also be helpful for @ChryslerCares to clarify something else:
FCA's position is that PCM/EGR negates the need for U01. Given that, do vans still need PCM and/or EGR if they have not gotten them if they get U01? It is getting a bit confusing.

My vehicle would also not immediately restart. In fact, it was completely unable to shift out of drive, and the engine was cycling repeatedly, and technically would not "shut off". All electronics were affected and completely non-operational.

Hi ESagle,

We wouldn't be able to speculate on this complaint from the NHTSA website. The U01 recall address the engine control software that may cause engine stall without prior warning, without lighting a Malfunction Indicator Lamp and without setting any Diagnostic Trouble Code. In the majority of cases, the stalling occurs at low speed, while decelerating, while at idle or while negotiating a turn. If this recall has been performed and you're still having trouble, feel free to send us a direct message.

Thank you,

Got this in the mail today. If confirms what we already know. Scary that some are still stalling AFTER the T23 was done. That stall may be a horse of a different color but a horse nonetheless.

I was wondering if anyone has had the new software update. Just got my notice today. I have not had any issues with stalling and have 6000 miles on van.

I got the same notice as II Kings. Why are they sending this if there is nothing to do?

Probably because the law requires an action plan for any VIN that was subject to a recall.
