I took the van to have the latest recall performed; the V53 recall. Since I had to take the van in, I asked that the ESS system be looked at since the system has not operated for months now regardless of the length of trips taken, including several hundred miles on the highway. Just picked up the van and was told that both batteries tested bad and were replaced under warranty (van in service 22 months with 4,500 miles). ESS system working properly now - we will see how long this lasts. Prior to taking the van in, other than ESS system not working, no issues with starting, engine shutting off randomly, etc. If it werenít for the recall, I would not have taken the van in just for the ESS issue. Iím glad I did as the main battery would have failed at some point. BTW, I was given a 2018 PacHy as a rental - quite impressed with the drive train in the short time I had it.

After the recall ground fix did you have to reprogram radio stations, etc.?

No, I was surprised that even after both batteries were replaced along with the recall performed that all radio and SAT presets were intact.

Shadow5501,
Thanks for the info and the pictures on this screw up. I had mine done on Monday. I hope they did everything shown. They only had the van in the "fix-it" area for about 35 minutes. I got the notice about a week ago. No need to reset radio stations here.

2018 Limited gas is already loaded. Ocean blue w/Black-Diesel Interior. Build date Friday the 13th, 4/18. Lifetime Warranty. Lots of extras.

2019 Ford F-150 XLT added to the garage on 3/5/2019. Many mods done since.

Keep us updated on your ESS concern, DSQUIRT. If any questions arise in the future, you're more than welcome to send us a private message. We'd be glad to help.

I'm scheduled to bring ours in a week from tomorrow. We haven't experienced any issues related to this recall, and [knock on wood] with the exception of the infotainment system freezing up one time during a road trip, we haven't had any major issues with our Pacifica since we purchased it used last August. The infotainment system has frozen a couple times but a restart has always cleared it.

By "fix it area" do you mean they pulled it off to the side and did the work on the ground? Ours was on a lift so they could remove the front splash panel and inspect the ground connection on the bottom of the engine. Took an hour.

Well,.....?? Unless you watch from the door, do any of us really know what they did. I have no reason to not trust them at this point in time, but that could change. Service manager was talking to someone as a person got me out of the waiting area and ushered me out the door. He knew nothing about the fix. I would have asked the serviceman, but he was busy. I did read later that what you described was the way to fix it. I did see they took the van inside right away, so maybe they did the full, correct job. Maybe they work faster than your dealer does?

It turns out that there was a training session going on when I arrived (early morning) and it ran over a bit, so took a bit longer. No matter. I had my Kindle and they had the July '19 issue of Road & Track. And I didn't have a hot date on my schedule.

I posted this in another thread regarding doors opening intermittently, but it bears repeating in this recall thread. I took my Pacifica in last week for the Power Steering Assist Recall, and I'm now experiencing several issues I never had before. This includes all the doors opening when the vehicle is started, intermittent loss of the backup camera, and intermittent message about the rear park assist being disabled. My guess is some rookie technician didn't perform the recall correctly. I asked the Service Advisor what exactly was done for the recall when I picked up my vehicle, and he had no specific information whatsoever. This is a perfect example of why I dread having warranty work done.
