Access 12V battery

Stupid question, but how do you get to the 12V battery? I pulled the access cover off from where you can see the negative terminal, but there's a secondary cover on there that for the life of me I can't figure out how to remove. I don't want to break anything plastic here. Any suggestions?

Fold the left rear set down, open the cover you mentioned then there are two screws that need to be removed. One is at the top left and is visible, the other is at the top right behind another cover that hides the emergency pull release for the gas cap. They are torx head screws, #5 if I remember correctly. Once you have the screws out you can insert a screwdriver blade (or better yet a plastic trim tool) and pry up the edge of the panel near the bottom left corner. There are latches that will release quite easily. Once you have two or three released you can get your fingers under the panel and work your way around and lift the entire panel off. It sounds daunting but it is actually quite easy once you find those two screws.

RSZIMM, do you have a hybrid or a gasser?
The two vehicles are different.
It would really help if you would put that in your signature line.

Ahhh, the screws aren’t behind the battery access cover, they’re inside the little cubby where the charging cable sits. Took me a bit to find them.

I’m now confused what the cover over the battery is even for? You can’t remove the battery through it, not can you gain access to anything other than the negative terminal. Seems pretty irrelevant.

However, if a thread is opened from the 'recent discussions' column on the lower right, it is hard to tell where it was posted. Still a good idea to put that info on the sig line.
