I have owned my Pacifica touring-L plus for less than 2 months. I'm about to make only my second payment on it and I'm about ready to take it back to the shop again for the 4th time.
The first few times were for the lift gate chime as it had stopped working. They had to order in a special part to get it fixed.
Now my wife is telling me that the lift gate will periodically only open about 6 inches on its own and then she will have to manually lift it the rest of the way.
To say I'm starting to get a little frustrated is a bit of an understatement. When you spend 39K on a vehicle you don't expect that many issues to happen within the first 2 months. Anyone else having similar issues?
Please tell me that I did not make a mistake in buying this car. If returns were allowed I'd return this thing in a second at this point.

Hi Scrubbed03,

I'm really sorry to hear about this--please give us a heads up when you're taking the Pacifica back in for the liftgate issue so we can get involved.

Thanks for reaching out. What steps do I need to do? Im nervous about taking it in again because it is only periodically not working properly and I'm worried that it will work fine when I take it in and they will not do anything. Have you seen this problem with other vehicles?

I haven't specifically worked with anyone who has had this concern, and there aren't any technical service bulletins to address this specifically. It definitely is most beneficial if liftgate will act up while it is at the dealership, but even if it doesn't, there's still a chance they can find a code, that they've experienced the issue before (maybe even in another type of vehicle), etc. Like I said, if you want us to get involved, just let me know!

Mine did this twice yesterday. It has never done it before. Worked fine this morning though. I hear what you're saying about it not happening when you take it in. I've heard "we didn't find anything wrong" many times with other vehicles I've brought in for warranty repairs.

Hi mtmgtz--the offer stands for you as well! Please send us a message if you need to take it in to the dealership for further diagnostics.

Dealers get paid near nothing for diagnostics on a warranty vehicle this is why you get the bum rush out the door. If you were paying 120.00 per hour to get the car fixed well now it's all hands on deck. It's not just Chrysler either.

I have my limited purchased for around 3 months and so far:

1. the lift gate chime stopped beeping,
2. climate control will set to LO when remote starting the engine or restart from inside the car after long time shutting off the engines (more than 10 min I think),
3. the homelink can't learn my garage key.
4. The camera display turn to too dark when there's large contract between the front and back cameras.

I feel all of these are more like software issues. (the 1st one like what you had the issue and maybe it's hardware) Other than these I am feeling very good with this car. I don't feel these issues are affecting my driving or safty so I will just wait for the regular maintenance and deal with them together...

When I had the Audi Q5, and Nissan Leaf, they all had some issues, as long as they don't give me real trouble, I would just wait for maintenance schedule to come and I think I am a lazy guy and don't want to spend a lot of time on the way to dealer. (I feel I am a nice consumer) LOL

1. This is a known issue and is fixed by replacing the chime
2. This is a known issue and there is a software flash TSB for it
3. Do you have an old garage door opener?
4. This is a known issue, but I haven't seen any published fix for it yet. The work around is to switch to the view that shows just the front or just the back when one of them goes dark.

Hi Simonwang,

Please don't hesitate to reach out next time you visit your local dealership, I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know!

On this lift gate issue, Does it happen from the Keyfob our internal button? Or is it just when you open it from the handle? I have had no issue with my lift gate from any button out side of the external one on the gate. This has happened to me, but I chalked it up as it just being that the handle on it is much lower than I'm use to, perhaps the the door is so sensitive that I don't get my hand completely out of the way and it provides just enough resistance to stop the automatic lift.
