Chrysler hasn’t come out with a new minivan model in a long while so it’s understandable that the sixth generation of the Chrysler minivan will come with a few bugs so, here’s a compiled list of reported problems with the Pacifica that we’re aware of so far and the solutions to said problem if available.

Distorted Uconnect Screen

So far, only one member had this problem where the time, direction, temperature, etc were partially chopped off at the top of the screen. The distortion became worse over time to the point where the time is completely blacked out. ganymede81’s dealership seems to have fixed this problem by replacing the LCD touchscreen.

Uconnect Theater Crashing Among Other Things

First reported in July, a few members have also had their Uconnect Theater crash and reboot by itself. Forum member dngo hasn’t seen the problem resurface recently so Chrysler could have released an over-the-air update.

Other problems that were reported with Uconnect includes the rear screens powering on by themselves and the climate control being locked to low. We’re not sure if these are widespread bugs or if it was just those specific vehicles so let us know in this thread if you see these problem too.

Power Doors Not Reversing

A safety feature built into the new Pacifica is the reversing power doors. According to the owner’s manual, if anything were obstruct the door’s path while it’s closing or opening, the door will sense this and reverse in the opposite direction.

PontiacAttack’s power sliding doors are not performing as expected and his dealership’s tech agreed but Star (Chrysler's dealer tech line) said that this problem is “fine” and that there’s no need to fix this. The Pacifica he test drove had working power doors so hopefully, this problem will be resolved.

Backup Camera Turns Black

Unfortunately, this seems to be a common problem with all Pacifica minivans. When the 360 degree camera feature is active and the van is backing into a dim lit area, the backup camera will turn completely black. No, this isn’t caused by a broken camera, it’s more of a software bug.
Thanks to a series of tests performed by Pappa60, we now know that the cameras will choose the brightest common exposure in real-time when in 360 ° view and it won’t adjust a camera independently. No matter if you back or front into a dark garage, whichever camera hits the shaded area first will turn dark.

No resolve has been posted up yet and the only way to have the camera readjust its exposure id to switch off the 360 ° view.

Roof rattle

This is another problem with the Pacifica that may be common as more than one member is experiencing the issue. Borotanker was the first one to report the rattle and it seemed to get worse in higher temperatures (90+ degrees). The sound seems to be coming from the panoramic roof seam above the second row seats.

Stupidwebsite’s dealership seems to have found the solution as they haven’t heard the rattle again for more than 3 days. They’ve kindly provided the name of the service department representative that has the needed information to fix that rattle: Sunset Dodge/Chrysler in Sarasota, FL. Speak to Mark Cole form the Service Dept.

Bumper Hits Parking Curbs

There’s a chance of scraping against those parking curbs with the Pacifica as the front bumper is pretty low to the ground. Also, the car’s sensors won’t pick up the curbs since the front parking sensors are looking straight ahead and not downwards.
There isn’t really much Chrysler can do about this as it is part of the minivan’s design so the only way to avoid those scrapes is to back in, front in carefully, or just install a chin splitter to protect the bumper’s underside.

If anyone has anything to add or just want to discuss any Pacifica problems they’ve found, feel free to post here.

Had the screen issue where the top was blacked out, but also some blotches at the bottom. (replaced LCD screen)
HID low beam failed at 2000 miles. (replaced HID assmembly)
Uconnect apps freeze for minutes at a time, but the LCD touch screen continues to work, XM services quit until a vehicle restart, or tune information download lags the song changes by minutes. AM/FM never seems to be affected. (ordered new radio)

Don't know if these are common problems, but we had an EGR valve go bad with about 20 miles on the odometer and a loose transmission cover showed up at just under 1400 miles. Haven't heard of anyone else with either of these problems, but they are worth mentioning anyway.

Took our first road trip last weekend. Had an issue with the key fobs while making a stop at a McDonalds on the way back home. The key fobs would not lock or unlock the doors. Had both key fobs with me and both of them did not work. I used the UConnect app to lock / unlock the doors. Once inside the ignition started without any issues.

Both key fobs worked fine when we got home. Maybe something was interfering with the signal?

Good thinking wrt the UConnect app. I use that app sometimes but am not sure I would have thought about using it in your situation. Duh! Thanks!

Also, as another backup, does your FOB have the hidden door key inside? Mine does but I don't know if all Pacifica fobs are the same.

Updates........
New radio solved all of the XM/apps/NAV weirdness. Works great now.
HID low beam is a continuing saga, the HID assembly did not resolve the problem, NOR the body control module they tried yesterday. They/Chrysler are stumped

Latest on the HID.
Chrysler Engineering indicated that the HID assemblies are not packed well and that the replacement could have been damaged. So another HID is being ordered.

That's some serious injuries, all for something that should prevent that. Just for a test, I took a block of rigid foam and tried to block the door. It reversed when it fist hit the foam and there was no damage to the foam block. In other words, it did what I would expect. Next, I tried to block it with my hand. It didn't seem to want to reverse on contact. It took quite a bit of force to finally get it to reverse. Arms and hands, especially those of small children, are a lot more pliable than a block of foam, and now I agree, that there is a problem with the door sensor be it mechanical or programmable.

Sliding doors not retracting

This is absolutely terrible. I have been emailing Chrysler since September 8. I took my car in to the dealership and showed this to a service personnel...but they didn't have a fix.

My Father in Law's arm after the sliding door failed to stop and he had to pull his arm out. I told them they need to let Chrysler know about it but they haven't.
Please sign me up as a witness in any class-action suit. Chrysler knew about this for over a month but did nothing for a recall.

Three months after buying the car, FCA finally figured out enough to replace the DVD module. I now finally have a car with a working theater. Lots of visits to the dealership, lot of questions checking to see how stupid I could be (Did have the car turned on? / Did you use a homemade DVD? / Did you read the manual how to operate it? / etc.). I had to send FCA a Lemon Law notice before they finally fixed it.
I still have the "creaking" noise in the back. It is quite loud but only last about 20 minutes (longer than most in-city commutes sadly). It seems to arise when the vehicle sits out in the hot Sun.
Also, the all-season tires really suck. Anyone else with that issue. I haven't dealt with snow yet, but the car nearly gets stuck on wet pavement; and I frequently "squeal out" from stop signs on drive pavement if there is a slight incline.
A big problem is that the car sometimes fails to start. I'm going to blame the faulty DVD player, which must have kept some module powered up, and wait to see if it continues.

Wow, that's a pretty horrible injury. I cant understand why would they not call Chrysler on it? You would think in these days of viral social media its up to to Chrysler to fix it asap, but only if somebody reports it. At the least to save their fellow human from harm, I would think they would report it to NHTSA as a safety issue etc.

your UConnect Theater works? Mine hasn't worked since the day I purchased it a month ago. I keep being told there is a software update coming. Did you have the crashing problem?
Good news! Just been notified of a software update!
The service bulletin number to have the update completed regarding the concern with the penguins is #08-081-16. It was just released as October 15th, 2016

It's not available online at the moment and that the service dept must apply it supposedly.

I'm in the same boat. I have an active case opened with Uconnect customer service, and will hopefully be getting mine in next week. I'll post the results.
