Perhaps a door that wasn't fully closed???????????Hi there! Today after turning car off, the dashlights and overhead lights remain
on? I am thinking it is something silly and surely nothing major already??
Thank you!
Hi Litlbitartsy,First the sound to my radio went off, then I couldn't turn the radio off, now I can't get the dash lights to go out or the nav/radio lights to go off. I've dimmed everything and hopefully won't have a dead battery in the morning. I have the key in the house. Two days ago they did a recall on some kind of electrical recall and did mess with electrical. Wonder if that is what started it. I had radio earlier in the day. Aaaarrrgghhhhhh...
Just thinking about your issue, the first suspect for me is the front driver's door or passenger door handle. Clearly I don't know what components are involved after the inside of those handles "trigger" the lights, so the issue could be some other component including the actual computer. The inside of those door handles being touched turns on the blue lights on the instrument panel as well as the center display in front of the driver; the headlights also come on as do the instrument lights below the Uconnect screen (primarily climate control backlights, etc.). If you touch these door handle triggers but then don't enter the vehicle the headlights turn off first followed by the other instrument lights. These door handles are certainly not the only triggers, as anyone who has sat in their Pacifica for awhile after turning the power button off has probably experienced the blue lights and 'touch brake to start...' message coming on without knowingly touching anything. Undoubtedly, when this occurs, I have done something to trigger this, but at times i certainly was not aware of what I may have done. I guess the bottom line is the Battery or the generator don't have to be anything other than the 'effect' of whatever the root cause of the fault you are experiencing is. I think the Chrysler 'Start Team' or whatever you call the Chrysler incident call center people that the Dealers work with should be able to troubleshoot the involved components ...or explain to your Dealer's Technical representatives what should be methodically tested.Does anybody have any further information on this?
BACKSTORY:
Two weeks ago my wife went to leave for work and the 2017 Pacifica was dead. I did have some interior lighting but it eventually turned off. Called Chrysler Roadside Assistance and they came and jumped it. It was fine for two weeks. Same thing happened for a second time as she was leaving for work again. (Should not be late for work TWICE because of a dead battery on a new vehicle!) This time I called Chrysler Roadside Assistance and explained the situation. They came and towed it to my local dealer in it's dead state. Dealer then charged the battery to test it and it came back as a 'good battery' and the vehicle started. They kept it over the weekend and tested it a few more times and all was 'good'. They can not find anything wrong with the battery, alternator, etc. So after 5 days at the dealer it was returned to me with nothing fixed.
Last night after the vehicle was returned to me I shut it off and made sure that there was nothing left on. I went in the house and came back out 30 minutes later and the instrument panel and dash lighting were all lit up! Again, I made sure nothing was left on. Checked again about 10-15 minutes later and they were still on...then it turned off...then it turned back on...and so on. Perhaps this is the reason for the dead battery?? I am at a loss and completely FRUSTRATED!

If I were keeping the tail gate / doors open for 30 minuets, I would turn the dimmer knob to the lowest setting to shut off the interior lights. That is one of the purposes of the knob per the user manual. The only thing we did differently last night as we had the tailgate and side door open for about 30min as we slowly unloaded items from the back. During the initial unloading, we noticed the vehicle overhead lights stayed on for 5-10min. After they turned off, I couldn't keep them on for more than a minute for so. This is properly unrelated but throwing it out there in case there is some weird state machine logic.
I'm concerned that this could drain the battery as others have reported.
Hi Leno,Hello,
My 2017 Pacifica has the same problem with the instrument panel lights staying on and eventually draining the battery. My van has been at the dealer shop for three weeks with no resolution. It's under warranty and the dealer is paying for my rental but I sure would like to get my own car back. Does anyone have an up-date on their problemed Pacifica?
Leno
Hi mferni,I have same problem. Radio and Instrument Cluster will not shut off. 2017 Pacifica with 28k miles. Called two dealers and they cannot see me for at least 1 week or more. I wish someone from Chrysler could intervene and try to get me a sooner appointment. I am very concerned that the battery will die when I least expect it.
