I was driving kids to school when I stopped at an intersection. The car normally shuts down to conserve gas, but when I stepped on gas the car stalled. I tried to restart it by pushing the button, the enegine sounded like it was trying to start but didn’t. Tried that 3 more times.

Had a neighbor try to jump the car, but got an error message saying auto start wouldn’t work with hood open.

Tried starting the car several more times while waiting for the tow truck. 1 hr later the car randomly started again. I sent it to the dealership, they had the car for 2 days. They tested the batteries but could not recreate the issue and sent it home!

Now I feel like it’s a guessing game on when it will do this again. Next time I will video it to prove there was an actual issue with the car.

Anyone

There are a number of ESS threads. Someone recently posted that it took 5 minutes to restart -- sounded the same as your situation. It is post 22 in this thread:
https://www.pacificaforums.com/forum/474-chrysler-pacifica-minivan-issues-problems/23530-2018-pacifica-ess-did-not-restart-two-occasions-3.html#post529363

And, as posted, @harrysiii thinks a new recall about voltage regulators may be the culprit - but you did not post your van's detail (year, trim, hybrid/gas, delivery date, new/used) in your profile.

You may want to repost on that first thread (or one of the admins may merge it.)

Hi Arurye,

I am terribly sorry to hear that this has happened and that the dealer could not replicate the concern. Please send us a private message with your VIN, mileage, and dealer so that we can document this on your behalf.
