Hey all,
I've looked through all of the existing threads, and I fear I'm about to be one of the victims of the 2017 Gas Pacifica ESS / Second Battery / Electrical Issue problems.
I purchased it in July 2018 with 28K miles. CarFax indicated it came off of a rental fleet.
About three weeks ago, I had my first "Service Stop Start System" warning message in the center dash. 10 miles later, had the "hood open" warning light come on.
Did some research on the forum, and tried a temporary fix on the hood sensor plunger.
That worked for half a day.
I'm just out of warranty, but based on what I was reading, I knew this was something that the dealership should look at.
So I took it in to Colonial Jeep Chrysler Dodge in Hudson, MA. Not the exact dealership I purchased it, but within the same family of dealerships.
Brought it in a week ago (January 2, 2019) with the ESS warning, Hood Open, and occasional Electronic Throttle Warning Light on.
They ran the diagnostics, $130, and told me that it was the hood switch / latch. Told me to come in the next week to have the hood latch replaced. So I came in today, (January 10, 2019) to have them replaced, $212, and unfortunately, not surprisingly, that didn't fix the issue.
So, I shared some of the information that I've learned here, with the dealer, and was told "you've done more research about this than we've done!" Now I'm still waiting as they try and figure out what's wrong. I suggested they start with the second battery.
