Thank you for the tips. I figured how to put the signature at least. The van does not have ESS and NHTSA shows my van has 0 unrepaired recalls.
It sounds like our vans may be similar since my van doesn't have ESS either. The transmission TSB is a technical service bulletin which helped the shifting. You won't get a recall notice about a TSB since it is only used if someone is having problems. The EGR valve was a recall. It seems like I had the transmission adaptations cleared at about 14,000 miles and 25,000 miles. I'm at 37,000 miles, so it won't surprise me if I have to take it back in sometime.

To private message @ChryslerCares, click on the red letters and you should be able to message them with your VIN and the problem. If you tell them which dealer you are going to, @ChryslerCares might be able to suggestion possible fixes if they don't think the paperwork you take with you applies. (It might take a few days for @ChryslerCares to respond to your private message.)

I do understand your frustration since it took awhile for me to get a dealer to figure out how to fix the problem even if it was a temporary fix. @ChryslerCares called me after the last fix and offered assistance if the problem returns.

Thank you. I just sent a message to ChryslerCares. If clearing the adaptation data fixes the problem, I don't understand why Chrysler doesn't make the van stop learning the driver habit and just drive at a default factory setting.

Keep in mind that NHTSA items are generally for safety related issues only. Chrysler issued Service Bulletins are the source for repairs and updates for repeated problems.

How did you get your transmission replaced under warranty. I think most customers posting here have not been able to get their transmission replaced under warranty - most seem to be ignored by Chrysler. I think we need to get together a class action lawsuit and have all our transmissions replaced. Until Chrysler feels a financial pain imposed by a judge, I think they will play the game if this is how it’s suppose to work.
I have a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica LX in Brillian Black Crystal. It has no special equipment (unless you want to consider the 8th seat) and I began having the same problems with the transmission at less than 12,000mi.! I first reported the slamming into to gear when I would ease up on the gas at just over 12,000 mi., they did a Software Update, which didn't remedy it, next they did a valve body replacement, it continued and even came to a point that it shifted down so hard, that it literally felt like the drivetrain was falling out!! So after that happened they replaced the tranny with a NEW one, it behaved sometimes after that, but occassionally still banged into gear, gradually getting worse over timeand doing it more often. Newest problem it began doing is shuttering and seemingly wanting to quit, when I would come to a stop. This too was the transmission and was remedied, by reprogramming the Transmission Control Module, however the car is at the dealership again today for both problems and they want me to go back there and drive with the technician because he can't seem to get it to duplicate either of the problems! Moral of the story is, they could put a new transmisson in them all, but it doesn't matter, they're faulty. Oh and I tried to get out from under this van by doing a trade and the same dealer which I bought it from and that I have been buying my vehicles from for ten years, wanted only give me $14,000. I turned that down real fast!

Is there a case on the customer care side to provide an added layer of assistance while in service? Send me a direct message as I'd be glad to create one and escalate for handling.

Did you ever get a response or a fix to your Pacifica? Your story is exactly the same as mine, even as our dealership dismissed us FOUR times. Have literally gone in 4 x and taken all three carseats out and been weeks without my car. Just picked it up this week and ITS STILL HAPPENING! I am getting ready to call the news networks. I've tweeted to @ChryslerCares two times to no avail...crickets. I feel unsafe driving myself nevermind my three babies.

OK I'm going to add my name to the list of upset owners with Trans problems. I currently have the van @ the dealer getting the tranny looked at for the 4th time, also the bubbles under the paint on the hood taken care of, Plus the sliding doors are being re-flashed for a third time because the would intermittently not close or open by them self (#firstworldproblems). Oh and the van started not to start right away but after six times of trying surprise it would start. So today i got a phone call from the dealership and they told me that the tranny is fixed. They replaced the car battery and it will not have that issue anymore. Am I crazy or is this a legit fix? They are going to charge me $200+ for a new battery that will fix the car not starting right away and the tranny. Ive never heard of this but wanted some feed back on if anybody else has had this done, and does it work as a fix? Thx

This thread just breaks my heart.
I was well on my way to buying a Pacifica limited on July 4th for all its awesome features such as the panoramic sunroof and the highly configurable seats. fits the bill perfectly for my family of road trippers. Not any more! I don't think I will now knowingly get into this hassle.
I just can't believe that this issue has not been fixed by Chrysler even after so many reports. This doesn't just break my heart alone. my entire family was looking forward to this new family car.
As much as I hate it my only apparent option looks like the next best (which I am not a fan of BTW)- Honda Odyssey.

If you put your van info (year, trim, gas/hybrid, build date, etc.) in the signature line of the UserCP it will help us know more about your van.

A bad battery can cause a host of problems, so replacing it makes sense. It is not unusual to have a battery replaced before three years on this van. My van's first battery lasted 28 months and was replaced because it threw some codes when something else was being checked and it failed the test. The replacement battery (had probably sat on the shelf at the dealer too long and) only lasted 4 months. It didn't start the van one day and had to be jumped and was replaced after testing by the dealer.

Some transmission problems can be solved (at least for awhile) by resetting or updating software. Transmission adaptations on my van were cleared at about 14,000 and 25,000 miles. I'm at 40,000 now, so we'll see if I need to have it done again.

Our Pacifica is Feb 2017 and we are also having the jolt issue in lower gears. I have already taken the van to dealership and they have reset /updated software but the issue continues to happen. Like many other posters who posted here, this is a serious issue and terrifying issue. @ChryslerCares, can you please help us?

Same issue here with our 2017 Limited. No dealer has been able to reproduce.
Hi kbelltx and haleme,

We understand why this may be concerning. Unfortunately, the dealer needs to be able to replicate your concern in order for them to give a proper diagnosis. With that said, if you plan to return to your dealers for further inspection, please send us a private message and we'll gladly have this documented and looked into.

Sorry @ChryslerCares, for this problem, which has been reported often as random and non-repeatable at will, the customer's claim should be diagnosis enough. An all out attack needs to be applied, even it it means replacing the transmission. This "kicking the can down the road" approach is insulting to your customer, and unproductive.

Doesn't someone at Chrysler understand that "sorry, unable to replicate" for what is perceived as a major issue really angers your customer? Your customer does NOT enjoy interrupting their busy day to bring a vehicle in to the shop, only to be told they wasted their time, and they are probably just imagining it.

We have had the same problem with our 2017, as well. First time, they couldn't reproduce the problem. Second time, it threw a bunch of codes and now they are replacing the valve body and the range sensor. Anyone had these replaced? Did it work?

We have also had the same transmission issue with our 2017 Pacifica Touring. The transmission was replaced in January 2019 as it was found to be coming apart internally & there was a hole cracked in the transmission case. Dealer had our vehicle from 12/17/18 - 1/24/19. It has been right around 6 months & we are having the same issues with it again. Have an appointment with the dealership on 7/15/19. Considering filing a lemon law case..anyone successfully do that?

UPDATE: I picked up my Pacifica on July 5 being told that everything is “fixed”. Well we drove the van home a suprize it did it again, hard shift. 🙄 we decided to take it home and enjoy the rest of our weekend. The Monday afternoon my wife calls me a tells be that the van had been hard shifting all day. So we called back the dealership and they had us drop it back off. Side note a 2019 dodge caravan is not a comparable van to the Pacifica. So today we get a call that the van is yet again “fixed”. The repair was and I quote “transmission learned a few bad habits and needed to be rewired”. Well we will see if we have a winner. Because we are tired of this hassle with three kids under 5 and two parents that work so time is limited.
