Dealership wanted $150 to even look at it and maybe the warranty will cover what they find maybe it won't. Chrysler cares was dismissive and said they won't do anything without the diagnostic.

Do you have a link to the November NHTSA report?
See post 129 in this thread for the link to the NHTSA report.

We've had our Pacifica since Feb '17 and have generally enjoyed the car except for the constant issues with the transmission. It seems to be a similar problem to what others have reported with the transmission seeming to downshift suddenly when accelerating from a standing start. It's a violent jolt / clunk that has no place in a vehicle with 25K miles. We've been in and out of the service department for the usual recalls and "transmission adaptation" fixes and it still continues to be a major issue. It's gotten so bad that we are looking into cutting our losses and getting another vehicle, even though this van checks all our boxes (minus reliability). My wife can't stand to drive it anymore and I don't really blame her as it makes you question pulling out in front of traffic. This is our first Chrysler product and as it currently stands will be the last.

When we take it to the dealer we get the standard, "can't duplicate" answers and a day lost without a vehicle (at least 3 times) as they refuse to give a loaner. I've read there are issues with some of the ZF9's that only replacing them outright can solve and while I'm not excited about needing a new transmission in a new vehicle I believe it's the only recourse. How can I get my dealer to get on board with this given the repeated inability to fix the issue. I either need help or a new car!

*sorry for such a long and rambling first post, just looking for guidance.
Hi there FLEngineer,

This is certainly not what we want to hear, and we're so sorry this is happening. If you're willing to schedule another appointment at a dealer for diagnosis (you can use any Chrysler dealer), I can get a case started for you so someone can assist throughout the diagnosis process. Just PM us with your VIN and appointment location and time if you're interested in this!

Thanks for looping us in, irpilot.

I just witneesed my mom's van do this and i can tell you, it scared me! I have never had a vehicle jolt like that! We drove it to Texas and back early in March and it didn't do this, but she says it is happening more frequently. Any ideas?

See post 129 in this thread for an FCA bulletin that you can take to the dealer.

If you put your van info in the signature line of account settings it will show up at the bottom of your posts and will help us answer your questions easier in the future.

Has anyone tried replacing the TCM on a 2017 pacifica limited. everything I've read here says the dealer has no idea what to do. I've had mine in three times and no help.

I was just at the dealership today with my jolting issue on my 2017 Pacifica. I’ve been in multiple times for this. The can never find anything wrong. The jolting is so bad that I had to coast in a turn lane 5 minutes after I left the dealership today because my car wouldn’t accelerate. It is mind boggling how no one has a fix to this. I know 3 people with this same year that have the same complaints. I thought my husband didn’t believe me, but he was driving this past weekend when it happened to him. I feel so unsafe driving around with my children. I will never buy a Chrysler again.

I must be the lucky one.

I've had nothing but admiration for my Pacifica's tranny. No issues. I try to press the auto-start off everytime i get into the Pacifica, so that may be why I am not experiencing this issue. Drivetrain wise, I am a very happy camper. Now, the **** corrosion on my front hood on the other hand..... very irritating.
Haha I'm having the tranny issues at 110k AND the **** hood

Hi johnmichaelbishop

Try this:
1) turn the start switch to on, but do not start the car. All trouble lights are on and the fans in the heating and cooling systems are on if that was the position they were left in.
2) push the gas pedal right to the floor and hold it there for 10 seconds.
3) turn the start switch to off with your foot still on the gas pedal.
4) release the gas pedal, but do not put your foot on the brake pedal
5) wait for 2 minutes before starting your car. Apparently the electronics are being reset.

Start your van and go for a drive. Do not accelerate too quickly, you just want the van to shift through a few gears to learn the basic shift points. You may want to put it in reverse a few times also. Afterwards just drive normally. It works every time for me. My transmission shifts smoothly and downshifts quickly. I learned this from a Mercedes forum. BMW also has the same problem. Google how to reset transmission adaptations and many sites come up.
I bought my van Aug 2016. It was built in July 2016. It now has 70,686 Km.
This post needs to put to the top.
Tried, tested.... And so far so good!
