So.. don't contact chrsyler cares(they literally want you to just go to the dealer and won't help you). Contact Uconnect and tell them you want to be put on the OTA list for the updates you are missing(the final one technically has to be done at the dealer). They will put a ticket in and you'll be contacted by a Uconnect Care person and they will take care of you.. They certainly took care of me. Got a fully up to date radio and they told me another OTA will come soon after the latest 39.5 to fix some more stuff and my VRM software is at 211412 after they replaced that.

Was not the issue with doing the updates in order. They all failed to apply. They have a new head unit on order right now. @ChryslerCares has been helpful with this. Unfortunately it's not the biggest issue with the van. I'm going to be in need of a new head gasket as well.
Thanks for keeping us posted on the result. That's unfortunate for both. Hopefully everything is under warranty for your vehicle. How many miles is on your car that it needs a new head gasket?

Uconnect put you on a list of OTA and it was installed onto the car via the air? I'm curious since they didnt tell me that when I was trying to update it. They told me I had to go to the dealership. Also, you mention theres a OTA coming soon? Do you happen to know when that would be around and yours is the same radio, but just updated right?

No they didn't.. they instead opted to fully replace the radio because it required 3 steps and the dealer basically thought it would fail because they said they already tried it with another vehicle and went very poorly(resulting in a replacement under warranty). So they cut out the middle man this time. Should also mention Uconnect handled literally of it for me and footed the bill to boot which was amazing customer service in my book.

They told me they were releasing a new OTA soon that would fix the hotspot issue and other things but you'd need to call at the first of each month and ask if it's been released yet. If it has then asked to be put on the "campaign list" and they'd push it out. They said they didn't know when it would be done(the lady was a very straight shooter. It was literally my best interaction with a rep). They actually replaced my radio though and i'm on USA-SBX-8.4-QR-39.5.0-20210201Q0H0

Great! Thanks for that info. I'll definitely be calling next month and checking since I literally have never seen an OTA since having our vehicle. And I'm currently on the same version as you mentioned.

I have an extended warranty through endurance that's paying for itself with this van already. The head unit ChryslerCares claims will be covered on their end. The head gasket, I have a case open for and also have my extended warranty so one or the other will be paying for it.

It seems the common fix for all that are stuck on old firmware is a straight up head unit replacement. I wouldn't even bother with uconnect or trying to get the firmware pushed out OTA. I have yet to see one actually work.

The only reason I suggested contacting Uconnect is that they put a ticket in and immediately said they'd replace the radio for free. Chrysler cares tried to get me to go to the dealer and pay their $160 diagnostic fee and go through a bunch of nonsense.

That's strange. Chryslercares never asked me to do that. I was at the dealer at one time and they tried flashing the firmware in order, but never charged me because it failed, but that was on my own.

Message from them on FB about it.

"Once you're outside parameter for your basic warranty, the dealer will charge you a diagnostic fee to see what the concerns are, unless it is related to your powertrain warranty or extended warranty coverage. If the issue is related to warranty repairs, the dealer can provide you with a loaner, if there are none in stock, you are more than welcome to rent one on your own, provide us with an invoice copy for reimbursement. If your vehicle is not receiving the updates FOTA, we always recommend the dealer checking the TBM to see if it is communicating properly. William Chrysler Cares"

Right? The inconsistency is mind-numbing. The biggest problem I have is a lot of problems with these vans can be fixed via software and at least my max care extended warranty doesn't cover anything software related which feels like a purposely done oversight..

Well finally got my radio replaced with the new software version after OTA and dealer updates failed. Now I ordered the map update but missed the $50 discount. The new software is definitely a lot different than the old software. Seems much more stable.

Wanted to give an update.. I called today and they said they released an update on the 17th of this month for the hotspot. The version is QR40.1 now.. does anyone have the ability to get the TSB or something? Also they were saying to wait a few days to see if my van got it but they are talking yet another dealer update which my dealer would want min $100 so guess I'm not getting it..

Just when I thought I got everything settled they decide to come out with an update. I'm glad but irritated at the same time.
