It has car play and android auto which is a big deal. The 2018 Pacifica will need these to compete.
I didn't see mention of whether their CarPlay implementation will be wireless, which probably means it will be wired-only. I'd like this feature, but only if it's wireless. I rarely take my phone out of my pocket in the car and probably wouldn't start taking it out to plug it in just to get CarPlay.

From what I have read only BMW has figured out how to make it wireless. I agree wireless would be best, but I am willing to take wired.

I agree, the sideline is still a little akward looking.

Led headlights and fog lights

Uses 9 speed and 10 speed (Honda built) transmission

Active noice cancelling. Driving conversation between 1st row and 3rd row occupants.

Has an interior camera to see the 2nd and 3rd row occupants with zoom for use both day and night (night vision)

Speak through Bluetooth headsets (driver to all passengers or specific passengers)

New rear suspension and increased horsepower with 10 speed tranny to claim they will be the quietest, best handling, most efficient minivan.

Sliding seats in and out and front to back in 2nd row. (seat belts for 2nd row seats are incorporated into the seat itself and not on the pillar. sliding left to right has tracks on the floor. sliding front to back there are no tracks... the sliding is incorporated into the seat itself. no mention if the seats are removable in the 2nd row)

New multi angle backup camera

And hands free tailgate entry

CarPlay and android play

And HondaSense on ex trims and above included automatically (which is apparently 95% of where their sales happen).

4G LTE connectivity.

Programmable height tailgate

Lighter weight ... I think 96 lbs or something

Spring availability

They still can't do anything with those second row seats! You still need to unlatch and carry them out of the van if that is even an option. No store in the floor. So, other than some styling they have not really changed the functionality where as the Pacifica is still able to surpass.

Android Auto and Carplay are working on the UConnect system. I took some pictures from CES. From what I saw both will be in the 2018 Pacifica. I also told the FCA rep at CES I was disappointed that these were not included in the 2017 Pacaifica.

It's possible that they could add it mid-cycle 2017, like it sounds they are doing with engine stop-start. That's not going to help anyone out there that already has a 2017 though.

There's an Alpine head unit that can do it wirelessly as well. It's part of the CarPlay spec, so nobody really needs to figure out how to make it work. They just have to choose to go down that road.

What indicated that it will be in the 2018 Pacifica? Did they have a list of upcoming models to get it?

The FCA rep said it was already available from some production cars.

"For the 2017 model year, 8.4 Uconnect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration is only available on the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger models."

No list just a guess since they already have it in the 2017 models year cars. It would only seem natural to include and expand it in the 2018 model year cars.

Here's more coverage from our friends at Motor Trend -- sorry if already posted. I do think Honda's made some improvements to this model, but I doubt they'll be viewed as "transformational" ones by shoppers. Both interior and exterior styling are based largely on the outgoing model. Pretty angular. Switchgear seems to be disorganized with a lot of unrelated shapes and confusing buttons. Infotainment system doesn't appear nearly as attractive or intuitive as UConnect, but it does look better than Toyota's. Scroll through the various photos. I hope to get a close up inspection at the Chicago Auto Show next month.

I agree that it's very likely, and I certainly hope that's the case. But it's not in all 2017 models, so there's no guarantee it will be added to all 2018 models. The Dodge Journey still ships with Uconnect version 1!

Toyota/nissan just cant get their design right, their side windows look so awkward...
Agree. The Pacifica's design is so elegant and cohesive. The Honda's proportions are really strange - looks narrow from front, a bit too long from the side (maybe the flying D pillar has something to do with that) and wide in the back. From the front, this van may as well be from 2003. Current design, as polarizing as it is, holds together better.

That being said, second row seats are pretty cool as is the rear seat camera.

I've gotta say, that sunroof in the Odyssey looks embarrassingly tiny!
