Trying to make a quick coherent post with a 4 month old in my lap...

We have a 2018 Pacifica Hybrid. On three occasions now we'll have a black screen that doesn't allow us to use the touchscreen. No radio function. Climate can still be used with the manual knobs but we have no idea what we are setting them for given the black screen. If we reverse, the screen works for the rear camera, but once out of reverse, we cannot see anything on the center console screen (the screen beyond the steering wheel works just fine).

The third event is currently going on as I type. The other 2 self resolved. I don't see much on this forum, but digging thru the facebook forums and I am seeing incomplete information about other peoples experiences with this. I get the impression that most of us are having this happen.

I see some mention of pulling out fuse 76 for 5 minutes, but haven't found enough information on that to be comfortable doing it atm.

I see something about a soft reset but that requires me to push the phone button on the touchscreen which isn't possible atm.

I see a uconnect update page for 2017 models but not for 2018.

Is there anyone on this forum with experience with this that wouldn't mind filling in the blanks for me? I am guessing this will be resolved with a u-connect update which I figure I'll have the dealership do, but I would rather not go in for this update only to find that it doesn't exist for the 2018's yet. Also, is this fuse 76 trick no biggie? Am I flipping a switch? Pulling out? Do I need a tool?

Yep five times myself. I have had this one three times. Pulling the fuse only fixes it temporary, but it seems to be bad software.

Have you seen this one before? I have had it 3 times.

I just got my 2018 Hybrid Limited on Friday, and had it happen to me on Saturday. I didnt read anything, i just pulled fuse 76 for a few seconds and plugged it back in. it is super easy. It is in the fuse box under the hood and the white tool is in there too. from the drivers side, the tool is close to the top left and 76 (label is on the fuse box lid) is closer to the bottom right.

It easy, but shouldn't be needed every couple days for a car that costs 45k.

I had this exact problem problem on my THREE DAY OLD 2018 Dodge Challenger GT. Before I found this post I called the roadside assistance (since 4 years coverage is included). They came and jump-started the car. I did not try the fuse box fix, nor do I feel I should have to. 5AM now, but I will be calling the dealer when they open. I want my Accord back - 7.5 years without a single problem on that car. I'm regretting buying the Challenger :(

Having the same issues with my 17 Hybrid. Took it to the dealer on Tuesday, Was told they have to reprogram the the software. But I don't know if that has fixed it, because the dealer hasn't even looked at the van yet(2 days later). The "service advisor" told me that they might get around to the van tomorrow....Do you feel lucky, Kid?
So I called Chrysler Cares & they are calling the dealer to get it fixed...Don't use Bob Baker Chrysler...poor service!!!!

I just had the same problem. Fuse 76 works like a charm. We just need chrysler to know they have to fix it. we should all contact them. i called the dealer and they were understandably clueless. This is clearly a software issue as we are just turning the program off and on by pulling and replacing the phone. Interestingly, my problem occurred after pairing a new phone.

We just bought a 2018 Pacifica Hybrid yesterday, and today had this same problem with the screen! Service wants to look at it, but I'm curious if the fuse trick will work.

I have a possible theory about what why my screen went black today, but it might just be wishful thinking on my part. I've only had the Pacifica for about 24 hours, so please take what I say with a grain of salt:

The button which I assumed was the radio on/off button actually appears to be the UConnect on/off button. When I hit this button, the screen goes completely black. In this state, the screen cannot be "woken up" by hitting the Screen Off button or by touching the screen or by turning the car off and on again. However, hitting the radio button again does turn the screen back on. I am wondering if I inadvertently turned the radio off this morning (trying to hear all the kids in the backseat) and then poof the screen was dead. Later this afternoon I thought, "Let's hear some music" and then my daughter said, "Look the screen is working".

Would love to hear if anyone else thinks this might be the problem. I really don't want my one-day-old car to be broken. Service wanted to examine it tomorrow, but I at tempted to cancel now and test this theory more.

I also found another thread in this forum about the radio button: 2602-cant-shut-off-radio.html

Getting pretty angry

We traded in our Town and Country for a 2018 Pacifica Hybrid limited about 4 weeks ago. Since that time, I have driven 2+ hours unable to turn off the heated driver seat b/c UConnect forgot I had that package (the controls app suddenly showed nothing but the settings button.) I have to unplug and re-plug in the rear USB stick every time I start the van (otherwise it sits at "reading" forever). I tried to sign up for the wifi hotspot (I already have AT&T unlimited plus data, so should be simple) and was told by UConnect support it doesn't work yet (no mention of this when we bought the van). I've once had the issue with "Enter Anti-theft code" blocking me out of the system for no apparent reason. I've had each of the seatback displays and the main head unit display refuse to turn on numrous times. Obviously the latter is the most bothersome, since you can't see or easily control the climate or do anything with the radio, but the rear seat screens failing to turn on is also problematic when you have a long trip planned and one of your kids can't do anything. I've had the audio completely fail multiple times as well.

The software quality problems with this UConnect system are the difference between me adoring this car, and hating it with the fury of 1000 suns.

I've pulled and reinserted the F76 fuse to workaround some of these problems after I found that solution on this forum (thank you). I've even considered wiring a switch between the fuse block and the interior of the van to enable me to toggle this fuse inline without having to pop the hood so my wife can do it easily when I'm not with them and it's below freezing outside. But, call me crazy, there's something beyond irritating about the notion that this should be necessary to make the stinking stereo and heater work in my nearly fifty thousand dollar hybrid minivan.

This is beyond negligent even in today's world of "good enough" software quality. The lack of timely response and resolution from Chrysler on these issues bears legal blowback IMO.

2018 Hybrid Touring Blank Screen

Hi,

I also wanted to report that my 2018 Hybrid Touring L showed up with a blank screen today. It was just what I needed after my toddler threw up in his car seat.

Luckily my toddler is fine and the blank screen resolved itself after 2 hours.

Hopefully there's a fix in the works.

+1 on the front screen and the rear Uconnect screens.

Happened 3 times but fixed itself within a few hours. I haven't bothered to call into the dealer as I doubt they know how to fix the software issues and it fixes itself after turning off, going away for an hour.
That said, front center screen showing the blank screen or showing the "enter PIN code" or the seat heater/steering wheel heating being blank is getting annoying. I would say about 8 times of the various issues so far.

Hope a fix comes out soon.

I got my 2018 pachy 3 days back. I hit this issue same day I took procession of the van. I started the van using remote start and may be after few miles the screen went dark. I went back to the dealer and he adjusted the screen brightness and set to manual 10. But I have following issues
1. Android auto doesn't work either with top or bottom USB ports
2. Top USB port looks like faulty, phone doesn't charge
3. When entering garage the camera images are not displayed
4. Electric range is hardly 20 miles that too occasional working of gas engine. Temperature was between 20-32 Fahrenheit

Not happy with the buy:-(

@jkmk: that's interesting, I haven't heard of anyone having the screen go dark while driving. It is possible you accidentally pressed the power button in the center of the volume knob. Usually the black screen only occurs on startup.

The top USB port is the one you need to use for Android Auto. If it doesn't charge the phone then you are probably right that it is defective (maybe as simple as a loose connection). If it is charging, then you might have one of the phones that don't work right off the bat and you have to enable USB debugging on the phone. This happened to me with my Google Nexus 6P, but not for my wife's Google Pixel. See my post here: http://www.pacificaforums.com/forum/401-electronics/26010-anyone-got-nexus-6p-phone-work-android-auto-2.html#post344474

The surround camera only comes on when you go into reverse, or when you open that app manually. If you open the list of apps you can drag the icon for the Surround Camera app down to the bottom row and then it will be more easily accessible. That is what I do. As I enter the garage I press the Surround Camera icon and turn it on manually.

Lots and lots of people are complaining about limited electric range in cold weather. Some can't get it to use electric mode at all. Can't say I have experienced that problem in Phoenix!:D
