I bought the car certified and used last week. I have driven for about 100 miles since then. Yesterday, I got the check light come on. I also consistently experience a strange sound(misfire!?) with a shake in the engine, when I coast and then press the gas pedal. Not sure if they both are related.
Have you faced this before?
I’ve set up a service appointment for Thursday. Hopefully it’s safe to drive until then.

I think all of the failures I have kept track of to date have all been ICE versions.

Help me with my memory here. Have we seen the engine failures reported on hybrids yet?
Negative. I would not expect to see these for many years and possibly 150,000+ miles because most have miles in all-electric mode.

When I sold my 2018 12,700 miles of the 18,000 were all electric. Currently, my 2021 with 12,489 miles only 2,354 miles been the engine running.

The engines from the ICE and the hybrid version are the same except for cams, timing, and a very specific engine shutdown position on the hybrids. I would expect to see failures with coolant intrusions in the hybrids in the future.

I only asked because the OP has a hybrid.
Wonder if they drove it only in hybrid mode or if they charged it every chance they got like I do. Would be nice to know the actual ICE millage vs all electric.

I can only imagine the amount of transaxle and engine damage that would happen in a hybrid should it hydro lock and that high-torque electric motor try to start the ICE.

Quick update- just dropped off at the service station for the check engine light issue. The service folks indicated there could be a diagnostic fee of $200. I was frustrated since the vehicle is under CPO warranty that was bought from the same dealership less than a week ago. Fingers crossed. Will keep posting.

I already miss my van :) Hope I get the check engine resolved without any major problems. Having owned this vehicle for around a week, I realized there is something gratifying when I drive in electric mode. Even after expending all the electric miles, it continues to use the electric motor for the most part if I am light on the gas pedal. Will get an update in 24 - 48 hours according to the service department.

Quick update - the coolant bypass valve needs replacing. Part is not available at dealership. Not sure how long it’ll be, before I get my car back. The cost is covered under CPO warranty.
Would be great if I could get a loaner. But they are not providing any ☹

Update - I got my check engine light issue resolved. But to my frustration, the service folks damaged the front bumper. They are investigating the camera footage to see what happened. I’m worried they may not take responsibility. Will wait until tomorrow. It appears like a sharp object that poked a hole.
please advise what my options are if they don’t agree to fix it.

Did you notice the damage before you took off with the car from the dealer? (i.e. noticed it right away)
Did you show them & bring it to their attention right away too?

If so....it should be on them & you should've made a big fuss at that point.
Highly doubtful they'll be checking "camera footage" after the point & you've taken the van and you're back home.

You're going to have to press the service manager to get it fixed though.

I showed it to the service advisor. She took pictures. I also showed the sales guy next door. They took pictures. Will know today. Worst case I need to go with the small claims court.
