So I am new here so sorry if I don't start this right. I have a 2018 pacifica that we bought new in feb of 2019. I have loved it and still do. There are some little things that seem to be constantly mounting up though. I will ask about the main 3 here.

The transmission shifts hard sometimes, like really hard. Its not often and I am usually not going more than about 35 or 40 when it does it, maybe slower than 40. It hasn't done it often enough really for me to pay attention to all the details surrounding it but I will start paying more attention and can hopefully provide more info later.

The next thing I am experiencing is a squeaking in the front end. Especially when backing out of the garage when its cold. My husband says he thinks its a bushing in the suspension but he has been so busy the last year with no real end in sight, he says he just needs the time to get under and pull "all those **** covers off under there so i can see something". is there a common issue here I might can suggest to him?

Lastly I've noticed 2 times recently like if I go out to get something out of my van at work or at home, if I open the passenger door, something starts clicking in the dash on the passenger side and won't stop. Really the only thing I have found that stops it is to crank it for a minute then turn it off. I am afraid if it does this and doesn't stop it will run my battery down and we've had our share of battery problems. Any suggestions on this would be great too.

Hope this wasn't too long, and I hope it's in the right place. Any suggestions on these issues I am very open too. My husband is actually quite mechanical he just doesn't have time right now for much at home. Thanks in advance!!

Here's a question:
Do you drive lightly?

I ask because my 2019 will start to "hard shift" when my wife drives it for a few days. I tend to drive hard, so usually one good "beat run" and it goes back to crisp/clean shifting.
Likely I do drive lightly. Most of what I do is in town too, heavy traffic at times and lots of red lights. When we do go out of town we don't see to experience the issues I driving in town all the time.

Usually the 3-4 shift is the only place mine will do it, so mostly city driving. It's usually remedied by one good hard pull onto the highway.

Front suso and struts when really cold will do this . The tranny has a updated software enhancement for a tsb ( service bulletin )
My 2018 makes a loud moaning sound in the front suspension. Been getting louder last 2 years. happens regardless of temperature and especially when accelerating from stop or in reverse when turning or uneven surface (driveway).

Our ‘18 Touring L has those same issues. From what I read elsewhere, the dash noise is the recirculating air actuator, behind the glove box. I hope to be fixing that soon.I haven’t gotten around to lubing the suspension bushings and we are past our warranty mileage, so we are just dealing with the occasional hard shift.

The clicking you are hearing is most likely the servo in the HVAC duct on the passenger side behind the glove box. The servo opens and closes a flap in the duct. It is extremely annoying but won't drain a healthy battery. My 2018 had that issue. I replaced the servo myself but wouldn't recommend the DIY method for someone with little or no experience with these things. The servo has two screws and one plug which is easy enough but accessing the servo is a challenge.

I have experienced the well documented hard shifts at slow speeds from 1-2 and 2-3. These only occur rarely so I have not taken van in. in my case, these seem to occur most often when making right turns from a full stop or while slowly rolling (the hard shifts have occurred while going straight as well). While the van was at dealership, I asked them to check the transmission. The tech found that the transmission fluid was low due to a leaking impeller seal. The seal was replaced, fluid was drained and refilled. Van has been driven about 60 miles since service and although the shifts were fine before (other than the occasional hard shifts), the shifts now are super smooth and the “logic” seems to have been improved. No notation on work order that any electronics were updated. Work order showed a little over 5 hours of work covered under original power train warranty (5 years/60,000 miles). Will update as any issues/changes arise. BTW, there were no leaks visible on the garage floor. 6500 miles since service and jolt has not returned.

I have the squeaking sound from front passenger and the dealership replaced a “links” part. Also could the sound be the hazards blinking? When I open rear passenger doors the side mirrors flash out hazards to show a passenger is exiting.

Thanks y'all for the responses. I told my husband about them and he said he too thinks the sound in the dash is an HVAC actuator. We got the extended warranty when we bought it but the dealerships near us are owned by the same people and their service departments are horrible. We found a great independant shopt though that will make claims against the warranty. Thanks again for the info, once the warranty is out he will make most repairs himself though.
