Hi,

It has been mentioned on this site that the full 2017 production run for Pacifica hybrid has been filled, and the factory will soon shut down to retool before resuming production on 2018 models. Have any details on the 2018 hybrid models been released; specifically: are any changes being made (big or small), that would warrant waiting until autumn 2017 to purchase a 2018 hybrid?

Short answer is no. No official announcements. Just speculation.

Upgrades from 2017 to 2018:
HomeLink garage door opener
Mocha seat color option
20 speaker H/K audio
Super console
Auto-dimming rearview mirror (but not the drivers side mirror)
4G instead of 3G internet speed
UC4 - Apple Carplay and Android Auto

Depending on which page of the Order sheet document you look at though, the 20 Speaker H/K Audio, Advanced Safteytec and UConnect Theater groups could be an "Extra Cost" item in 2018 on the highest level trim (Limited).

If that is the case, and those are features you value... it could be ~$3,700 more for the 'benefits' of the HomeLink/ Super Console/ Auto-Dimming mirror/ UC4/ 20 Speaker (vs 13 speaker), or $3,000 more if you stick with the 13 speaker system. You also 'lose' the 18" wheels down to 17"... or costs another $900 to get 18". A bit of a rip-off... in 2017 they give you a $175 'credit' to go from 18" to 17" wheels, but charge you $900 to go from 17" to 18". Wheels for me aren't real important, and my 2017 on order could only be ordered with the 17" anyway.

My dealer is unable to give me any details on 2018 pricing. I hope before my 2017 is made & delivered, the 2018 pricing is finalized. If even short term, the above 'extra cost' features are included as No Charge (which another page indicates) on the 2018, then I certainly would do the 2018... even if it means several more months of waiting.

No Relase Date Yet

No release date yet? How long normally does it take a car company to switch to 1 year to another within the same generation? My lease is up at the end of October, hoping to place an order for the 2018 end of July or the start of August.

I'd be a little surprised if you could order a 2018 before all 2017s are returned to their owners. That would seem to be a pretty big thumb in the eye of current owners who have been without their vans for weeks.

I can only see them placing orders after the 2017s are returned and the "new" 2017 orders are at least in the process of being filled.

Unless they give us 2018s back instead. :)

No surprise: "..if you could order a 2018 before all 2017s are returned to their owners. .."
VERY surprised if you could get delivery on that 2018 before all 2017s are returned to their owners..

Planning to order the 2018 when ordering opens up.
