2018 Regular Non Hybrid Van - Trickle Charging

227 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  jasonn
I have used a trickle charger for years, but not sure how to use it on my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. It is a standard model and has the two batteries. I hooked it up and it kept charging for a long time, so I disconnected it. On my earlier vans the trickle charger would charge for a couple hours and then go to standby mode. Is there a special way to connect the charger? I will be gone a couple of months. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds correct. It can take hours even with a non-trickle charger.

If you have a “smart” trickle charger it will automatically stop charging the battery when the voltage reaches a certain level. But if you have a bad cell in the battery it’s possible that the battery voltage will never reach that level and the charger will continue to try to charge the battery forever.
