We're seeing "Remote is locked out while in rear media" often when starting the car, without any way to fix it. Any idea what it means and how to resolve the issue?

Option in front Uconnect theater allows for locking out the rear remotes.

Have a 2019 Pacifica touring plus for 8 months and recent the same issue all the same as others except the rear screens are black as well and not operational. Called tech support while in van, Uconnect assist had me hold the steering wheel phone red and green buttons for 30 seconds while on park. Then Open my door for 30 seconds theN restart the car. Very odd but steps but still no uconnect theatre in front of back.

I had the same issues within two weeks after buying my new 2020. Very little on the internet, but I read an articles about trying to pull the fuses. I pulled both fuses that had to do with the radio and Uconnect for about two minutes. This corrected the issue for me.

This reboots your entire radio system. I lost preference settings, but did not loose any radio presets. I also lost my controls menu with surround cameras for about a few hours but it all came back when I rebooted. I thought I lost my apple car play in this process but it was just a menu setting that had to be restored. Hope this helps.

Yup; turning off the screens in the back worked for me too. It's a pretty cryptic message if you're not real familiar with the Chrysler "Frustrotainment" system.

I finally printed out the entire owner's manual (620 pages, 8-1/2"x 5-1/2" ) AND the Infotainment manual (201 pages, also 5-1/2" X 8-1/2").

Since each page in the manuals is half of a standard sheet of paper, it ONLY took 405 sheets of paper!!

I wish I'd known that there are places online which will print any material for you and put a wire-loops binding on it for a reasonable price.

I'd assumed that was what it was supposed to do, maybe so the kids' remote wouldn't change my front display, but I don't have kids and my dogs don't seem interested in using the rear screens, so I just turned them both off.
When I WAS getting that message, I finally noticed that one of the rear screens was turned on, even though folded down.

Hi,
we picked up our 2020 hybrid yesterday and had the same issue. I turned off the 2 screens (used power button and closed them) and turned them back on. I started wireless streaming from screen 1 with my phone and after that I was able to control everything from the front console. Didn't face the issue rest of the day. Will check in an hour and report if the problem reoccurs.

Thanks for letting me know! I was fiddling with things earlier, and after having the car off for a bit, I went to media, then pressed on map (so the map shows up in the middle of the media window). After this, I was able to select uconnect and things worked. If it happens again, I'll try both my and your methods to see which works.

Thanks again

This worked for me too. Thank you!

I too have a 2020 pacifica with the same theatre message. I contacted chrystler care who said I needed to take my car into the dealership. Well they have had it for one week today and apparently still not fixed. Have to say for a brand new vehicle I'm not very happy. Yes, chrystler has provided me with a rental which I'm grateful for, but I want my vehicle back.

Have a 2019 pachy. For 6months 10k km no issuse other then random rear camera would not shut off while driving. Received recall notice for thus said issue. Since recall software update v.93 the rear remote locked has happened almost daily. Recall was done 2 weeks ago, randomly happens and while in "listen in" boots out into radio and have to go to theatre mode and hit listen in again.
Hopes this helps Chrysler care.

Had this issue myself. I think it began with opening both screens prior to the car starting then putting the DVD in and starting it from the rear screens. After that, if I tried to select UConnect Theater (from the front console) I was locked out.

Turning the car on an off did nothing nor taking the DVD out nor opening and closing the screens. The final thing I did was to manually go into both rear screens, select "restore to factory settings", manually powering both down and then completely closing them. After that I was able to gain control back as the driver, initiate the DVD then open the rear screens. Back to normal.

For everyone else, what does the "private message" to case specialist lead to other than a recommendation to take the car to the dealer?

Thanks a bunch,

GPW

For those who are in interest knowing the resolve/solution of this issue, I just got my vehicle back and seems working. Obviously the Chrysler Care would not know and my specialist was not helpful at all. My dealership unplug the infotainment system for 20 minutes and plug back in as a complete reboot of the system. I tried multiple times to duplicate the issue and hasn’t seem the issue anymore. I had this issue when I tried to open the theater as soon as the car is running. I would suggest all to bring your car to dealer and have this step. I will continue updating you all if I see this coming back at me.

I have 2020 Pacifica Hybrid Limited with 1k miles on.

After a frustrating 30 minutes on the phone with UConnect (27 of which were on hold), nothing was solved and we have to take it to the dealership. We have the same issue, sort of. We receive the "Remote is locked out while in rear media" when we press the UConnect Theater source and the rear monitors won't turn on etc etc. Really hoping to have this resolved soon as we are about to go on an eight hour road trip with a 2 and 3 year old. Only Moana can save us. :)

Got the car back from the dealer. It’s fixed for now. Tech stated, “Found that the video routing module was not communicating. Inspected wiring and found bad connection at VRM 0.50 LOP 0891PHV4. Secured connection at VRM and now rear video system and remote is operating.” Hopefully the fix holds.

Same error here. Tried sone of your advice but none works. Got my car for 4 days, 300 km ... starting our roadtrip tomorrow.... awwww  Never had this kind of problems with all my other cars (not Chrysler)
th
Pacificas in my opinion have terrible entertainment systems. Suggest you get a Tesla which is my other vehicle. I’ve No issues with my model 3 related to infotainment. maybe Elon will create a minivan which will just push fixes to software defects. All I see as a response from Chrysler is to take it back to dealer for them to examine. Bad solution and inconvenient for the customer. Worst car ever. Someone should demote their CIO and key engineers in this space.

And all this time I thought it was SUPPOSED to be that way! I had the message all the time when I first picked up my 2019 Hybrid, then I found one of the rear screens was on and turned it off.
I haven't seen that message since, but then again I only have dogs riding in the back, and they haven't figured out how to turn on the screens yet. I guess I should test them out...
