Purchased on 1/25/2021 - 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Pinnacle currently at 5K miles.

Started having following problems when vehicle was at 3K miles
1. When you press the ignition multiple times the vehicle locks up - Solution: You have to wait few mins for vehicle to turn off then it works again.
2. When driving on Gas(EV is on <1% or 0 miles) the vehicle suddenly stops with "Service Charging System" error and asks to put the vehicle in Park - Solution: put the vehicle in park switch the vehicle off by opening the door as it locks up(like the first issue). Then press power button and you can drive the vehicle with check engine light. Works but after some miles of driving issue occurs again. Don't know which driving condition triggers it but have a feeling it happens when the vehicle tries to charge the battery on slow downs or breaking.

Second issue is scary as it happens on the middle of the road when you are trying to overtake or at high speeds. Have taken the vehicle in 3 times to dealer, last time it was at the dealer 2 days dealer performed 3 fixes. Other 2 times dealer could not diagnose the issue.
1. 2 fault codes 00513-00 and P0A43-00 - Dealer said there was fix issued by chrysler on 5/22/21
2. Update the BPCM software level
3. Update the PCM
Attached the error message and last service document. Other 2 times chrysler had no fixes suddenly 5/22/21 chrsyler releases software update.

Trying to see if others have faced issues like this with there vehicles. Even if they fix this vehicle I have this feeling it will stop again so I keep driving on the last lane of the highway so I can coast to a stop safely. I am going to try a buy back or replacement thru the dealer as even if they fix I have this feeling it will stop. Dealer is not ready to test the vehicle over long periods to say vehicle is a safe. Do I have a case for a buyback?

These are glaring safety issues and Chrysler is not taking responsibility. It's obvious that the software for this car was NOT ready when they released these cars. You're one of many 2021 owners dealing with this. Report to Report a Vehicle Safety Problem, Equipment Issue | NHTSA and call Chrysler out on Twitter to get their attention. Ours never stopped working on the freeway but it only made it 800 miles before we needed major repairs, it's been in the shop for almost 3 weeks now.

Your second issue (loss of power at high speed and displaying Service Charging System) sounds just like mine except my issue happens only in EV mode while yours is only in Gas mode. Does it also say “Shift to P to Start”?

I requested a buy back for mine last Thursday morning and I think you should too. I called Chrysler Customer Care at (844) 521-8188.
They took note of my issue and other info and said they would get back to me. I’m still waiting. I’ll call them again if I don’t hear back by Friday. I figure I should give them a week.

Thanks Paul. Yes I just went to dealer. They took my vehicle but they don't know what to do as last time itself they didn't know by luck some software updates came out on 5/22 so they applied that and drove it around but didn't replicate my driving conditions. Gave me a loaner. I am going to call chrysler and ask for buyback as I have this feeling that it will stop on me again when driving. It is just an accident waiting to happen. Just now on local road also it did it. Yes it says shift to P to start. Thanks for posting the video. I showed your video to the service guy. He was amazed u and me didn't have an accident.

What is Buyback? Will the replace or just give back the money? What happens to the taxes, down payment, etc

Finally got Chrysler specialist today.
They say that I don't qualify for buyback. They are trying to repair the vehicle.
Service mgr says they provided all the logs to chrysler star tech last friday and waiting on response. maybe transmission needs to be replaced is guess by service mgr he saw some transmission fault codes. but wants chrysler to approve.

Trying to decide next course of action.
1. my state has this state arbitration process without attorney. Should I try that it just asks for filing fee.
2. Should I go thru lemon lawyer? hesitant as agreement says if he doesn't get his fees from manufacturer, then he will take it from the settlement.
3. wait for chrysler to repair.

I had 3 repairs
1. dealer didn't do anything charged the battery and didn't get the problem and gave the vehicle back.
2. different dealer in different state as I drove down there. 5 days did the same thing as repair 1 and gave it back.
3. original dealer did the service mentioned above in attachment. 2 days.
4. right now in dealer shop since 6/1 - 8 days.

One of the main issues I have is I drive that vehicle thinking it will stop on last lane of every free highway, looking for a side to park.
Not sure if they repair will I be confident to go in the fast lane again with same vehicle.

Thanks in advance. Appreciate this forum.

well, those are the wrong people to ask. They have a vested interest in NOT buying back your van.

So, of course they're going to tell you "no, we won't because you don't qualify".

But the qualification is laid out pretty clearly in your state's lemon law. And you don't have to know what that is; you hire a lemon law lawyer who does know. The first thing he will do is consult with you and HE will determine your status under the lemon law. He can advise you.

And lemon law lawyers are paid by the manufacturer. I'm not sure where you got the "we can take it from the settlement" wording.

This was in the lemon lawyer's agreement as on of the options.

Car (Breach of Warranty and Lemon Law) Cases Except as specified in Paragraphs 5 and 10, if nothing is recovered, you will not be charged legal fees. The amount of fees depends on the type of settlement you’re ultimately offered and chose to accept. Your case could settle in one of the following ways:
A. Option A - CASH SETTLEMENTS. (No fee unless we win). Sometimes manufacturers agree to pay CASH to settle our clients’ claims. In negotiations, you hereby instruct us to negotiate our legal fees separately so that you don’t have to pay any fees or costs out of the settlement. However, if we’re unable to do so, here’s the fee breakdown: • If Settlement Amount is $2000 and UNDER, Fees are 40% plus costs • If Settlement Amount is $2000 and ABOVE, Fees are 33.33% plus costs If a case has been filed in court our fees, unless negotiated separately, will the greater of (A) the amounts indicated above, or (B) value of time spent representing you billed at our normal rates. We’ll keep track of the time spent on your case. This contingency fee arrangement is in preference to paying attorney’s fees on an hourly basis.

CT has arbitration process. Is that good or lemon lawyer is better?

Not much of an update for me. I haven’t talked to my case manager yet after I initially called Chrysler Care and opened the buyback request case on 5/27. He finally left me a voicemail on 6/3 and I tried to call him back many times and left two voicemails but no luck so far. I called the initial Chrysler Care number today to get it escalated.
In the meantime I took the minivan to the dealer again (3rd time) and they did a software update this weekend and gave it back to me saying that should have fixed my issue. But it promptly broke down on the freeway for the 11th time this morning so the software update didn’t fix the issue.
I’ll let you know if I get in contact with my case manager. I’ll give them another week before I contact a lawyer.

Chrysler Care finally contacted me and I sent them a video and they want me to try giving the vehicle to the dealership for a 4th time. I am really annoyed.
I just sent a consultation request to www.westcoastlemons.com.

I hired a Lemon lawyer but the process is long. This was my main vehicle. Not sure what to do. Service guy hasn't called most likely they are waiting on Chrysler. Have a rental from dealer. some folks on facebook say there a batch of bad parts and chrysler is fixing issues.

@adam1991 Thanks, I was reading the lawyer agreement wrong option A won't be applicable. They will either repurchase or replace.

If they fix do I loose value on vehicle when I go to resell.

I was thinking of bringing up lemon law with chrysler as they seem to want to fix and give the vehicle back to me. Keep saying no Buyback.
