2021 or later... has ANYONE gotten a map update for uconnect5?

This is seriously starting to piss me off. No one at chrysler knows anything about updated maps or how this is supposed to work. I still have 2020 maps in my 2021 vehicle and it's almost 2023.

I think this is pretty straight forward .

I think this is pretty straight forward .

2021+ plus are not the same maps as HERE as provided in the link for Unconnect 4. Uconnect 5 maps are provided by TomTom not HERE, you should already know the provided site is irrelevant to Uconnect 5 systems. Map support and upgrades through that website end at MY20.

It's really annoying when my stand-alone TomToms have already gotten their FREE complete NEW map upgrades for the 4th quarter of 2022. A completely new map every quarter.

But yet my TomTom maps in Uconnect 5 are a year older than my vehicle.:mad::mad::mad:

Uconnect needs to fix the TomTom server connection so they can update. It always says the server is not connected. This is total BS when I can pull up TomTom maps on a cell phone through an app and they are up to date, but yet in a 60G vehicle my maps are going on 3 years out of date. The freaking speed limits increased in my state but my Uconnect 5 gives me over-speed warnings saying I am driving faster than the posted speed limit. My stand-alone TomToms and phone have the correct new speed increases.:mad::mad::mad:

I can’t help but wonder if the reason maps can be updated regularly on computers, tablets and cell phones is because they all are standard platforms on widely used operating systems. On the other hand the Chrysler Pacifica Uconnect presents non-standard integration challenges In both hardware and software. The Pacificas with CarPlay give the owners a way to use more economical and more current map offerings.

Uconnect 5 is a standard platform for outdated Android 8.1. Uconnect 4 with maps provided by HERE is a none standard platform with in-house software created by Uconnect. This is why Uconnect 4 systems must upgrade maps by ordering a USB stick from the provided Uconnect/HERE website and upgrade that route. They got away from this and switched to Android because what they created with Uconnect 4 sucks. Stand-alone TomTom units are dedicated nonstandard platform GPS units. When Uconnedt 5 was released Chrylser proclaimed the maps with TomTom would update automatically and stay up to date in real time. That was just another lie from the Uconnect team.

Uconnect 5 Android 8.1 and IOS/CarPlay don't like to jive together but they try. Android Auto works flawlessly, go figure.

LIES! BUT WAIT! Look at the fine print in the first video at @0:06 & 1:03.    It is really stupid to make a video like this and then put fine print in it. What is the point of this video? Bait and switch? This video came out AFTER I upgraded my vehicle and was told the maps in Uconnect 5 would always be up to date.

360L and SiriusXM listener profiles (not to be confused with the Uconnect driver profiles) have always been broken in Uconnect 5 and do not work.

I agree. I still don't understand why UConnect 5 updates have taken so long to come out. It's been easy over a year since last update. There's still a lot of outstanding issues with the unit and the whole premise of moving to Android was to streamline upgrades....

Now, based on some research some forum members did, seems the maps won't be updated or there are no plans to offer upgrades. Yet the idea is (or at this point was?) to force a guardian subscription to get OTA on demand maps failing over to factory maps when subscription expires or vehicle is out of network coverage.

As always, it seems more of a cash grab on their end, as allowing maps upgrades should be a no brainer, I get they should not be paying for the bandwidth required to download the maps, but allowing to update using your home WiFi or Hotspot subscription (if there's one active) would be an understandable need. (For folks that have no easy way, it could even be done during an oil change for a nominal service charge)

It's sad to see manufacturers still missing the point of seamless upgrades and that the upgrades are expected free of charge same as our mobile phones. Some might pay for subscription, but some other services are expected to work regardless of subscription status.

I agree - frustrating map is outdated and does not seem like Chrysler going to take any action. Looping @ChryslerCares into the conversation

I end up using CarPlay but problem is when using the Fam Cam you can‘t see the turn by turn directions in the instument cluster. So if there was a way for CarPlay notifications for map to be within the Fam Cam functionality I could see the argument on not needing map updates

For those with young kids having the map not update is an issue that can’t just be utilized in CarPlay if you want to have the Fam Cam up at same time

We live in Phoenix which is a very fast growing city…maps from 2020 now pretty outdated with continued growth here and number of new/closed businesses
Well, I have experienced all that is stated here by knowledgeable owners. I have been through the attempted gouging by Sirius and incessant phone calls to reconnect to XM for about $40 per month on my 2021 Pacifica Touring L Plus. In addition, Guardian wants to charge roughly the same for useless services but would display current traffic. So my solution for traffic displays and updates on the Uconnect5 system is Android Auto, which is free and preinstalled on my Android 12 phone. I believe the same applies for Carplay. It was a flawless installation and also works well as long as you use data on the phone. I highly recommmend it as it allows map updates! My issue is that Android will not accept two phones at the same time so a bummer when driving if one phone is disabled. Maybe someone has a suggestion regarding this issue. Otherwise, Uconnect is a fine system and has worked well. There is no way I will pay $40 per month for SiriusXM or Guardian. Sorry for the long winded comment!!

Why PM? When is this going to be fixed and maps on MY21s updated? Did you read the fine print in the videos your company created showcasing the maps always being up to date? I have them posted above with specific times for the fine print outlined.

I sent a PM long time ago and the response was your team has no clue. Plus what we are asking is for a public statement on when and how will it work. So far Chrysler has been completely quiet on the issue.
Does anyone have email contacts with higher ups at Chrysler? Based on PM response I just got from Chrysler cares feel like there is still no path to get maps updated

#_# sadly you've realized what I realized the past few months "Chrysler doesn't care" and "Chrysler won't help you".. I've tried to find emails or something for the higher-ups but all I could find are the ones who already left the company. They have a pot that is beginning to boil and their reps are here to basically ensure it doesn't boil in public.
I would not blame the Chrysler Cares people, most of the time customer support people are the last ones to learn on information, sometimes from same press release/interviews where customers learn the information. This happens with all companies.

Now, I would really appreciate if they would open internal tickets and report this to their managers so they learn people have this question with no real direct answers and force the correct team to explain the implementation. But seems Chrysler Cares is pretty bad on this and are more focused on 1 on 1 interactions as most likely that's the metric they get evaluated on.

In other words, they don't know and they don't get paid enough to actually dedicate time to find out.
Well, whom can we blame? I've gone round and round trying to get an answer about when and how map updates might be available. I even re-upped with SXM Guardian to see if that would facilitate a map update. but I'll drop it just as quickly if I don't get some answers. I'm calling bulls*** on just about everything FCA said about uconnect 5.

For those interested here is response from PM from Chrysler cares rep after some back and forth. Basically no update and told to call Uconnect who has no clue

Thank you for providing that information. It looks like your Uconnect software is up to date. We are not sure why you're not receiving the updates at this time. We recommend calling our Uconnect Customer Care to have them assist you further with this. 1-877-855-8400
I did some research for you all.. I don't have a Uconnect 5 system but maybe try this guide?

at the end of the guide, you need to connect it to your computer

maybe this will work for you?
Thanks for posting that. As you can see, though, the Chrysler Pacifica is not on that list. I spent lots of time on the tomtom site and even downloaded the app. USB updates are not possible in the Pac, at least not by customers.

Chrysler, tomtom, uconnect, XM guardian... ALL dead ends. No one actually knows how the system is supposed to work.
