Wanted to also share another file of old vs. new parts for your FCA vehicle.

For PacHY owners, check out page 01262 and do a keyword search for "RC-Y12-21" - looks like there's already a recall AND a TSB (08-048-21) on a HVAC component on a 2021 model car? That's pretty bad...
Aren't there threads about a HVAC issue that required a firmware flash? (Climate control stuck to LO with no temp settings) I'm waiting to see how long it takes to get uconnect 5 firmware update for multiple profiles and to fix all the random bugs (no sound, resets etc)

Didn’t look for HVAC specific threads but will check them out. Hopefully I won’t experience any issues but that’s probably unlikely.

First-time Chrysler buyer, first-time minivan buyer. Took delivery of a 2021 PacHY Limited last week. Was super happy with it and took the fam on a much-needed vacay at a location about 100 miles from home.

Left home on a full charge. Of course we were running on hybrid/gas by the time we arrived.

Charged the car the next day at a Chargepoint L2 charger. Left the charger plugged in for about an hour after the van was fully charged. Got a message from both the uconnect and Chargepoint apps saying charging stopped. No big deal.

So the fam and I hop in the van. Naturally I push the start button but was unable to start the car. The error message on the dash says "Hood open. Unable to to charge battery or condition battery / cabin". Naturally then I checked the hood, in addition to the charger cover and all doors to make sure everything is fully closed. The car then gave the same error a couple of times before starting up. The check engine light is now on, but wasn't before.

Later on the same day, I try to drive the car but it refused to start. The van gave the same error message AND a new error message "Service electronic throttle control".

Next day, our last day of the trip, I tried starting up the van. It started up again, but the check engine light is still on. I didn't want to risk the 100 mile drive back, so had AAA tow the car back to the dealership and took a shuttle home.

Really disappointed as the van is otherwise pretty great. Hopefully this issue is resolvable and the van is fixable.

Wanted to see if anyone else went through a similar ordeal.
Sounds quite similar to ours (it went crazy and then would not start) but with totally different messages. Also the time frame is similar. We have had ours a little over a month and only 472 miles total. When it went crazy, ours would not start. Turn it off and it would turn back on (but not run). None of the auto doors (side and rear) would operate with buttons or key fob. Console gave message about the keyfob had left the vehicle. The computer was storing "cylinder 6 misfire" messages and the check engine light was on. The last thing they did was replace the computer (PCM). 46 miles later the check engine light came on again. Now the dealer has it for the 3rd time. We have owned it 35 days and it has been at the dealer for 26 out of the 35. We have now called Chrysler and opened an incident on it. Hopefully, Chrysler will step up and do the right thing. Good luck to you.

I'm sorry to hear about that experience. I hope you guys remained safe during that incident. Let me know what the outcome is on your end.

Relating to my situation, I finally received the OBDII reader which showed no codes post the BPCM software flash. I hope this fixed the issue but can Chrysler really guarantee the car's safety and reliability? I honestly don't feel 100% confident about the vehicle and don't feel completely OK taking it on road trips ever again or putting my wife and kids in the car. I find myself worried about every little sound or alerts that the car makes whenever I'm driving it.

I've started the arbitration process, and let's see what comes out of that. Will report when I have more to share.

I would look into the lemon laws in your state, the arbitration process follows that to the letter of the lemon law. FCA Dispute resolution team might be able to compensate you with cash and warranty if a buyback doesn't work in your favor.

First time using a ChargePoint station today and DW reported the car acted weird and would not start for a few attempts but ultimately did. She is out driving it now so hopefully it will be ok.
That's a well known random start issue after charging with 2021, people meantioned a BPCM flash may fix that bug. I've heard work around is to turn off ignition, open and close door, then it should start right up

What is BPCM flash? Something that is fixed with a software update?
Yes a internal control component that only updatable via dealer, it's discussed further up this thread

Shortly after my last post I experienced this problem for myself. Battery was depleted and I was idling waiting for my son at soccer practice I suddenly experienced a shutter and somewhat louder than normal engine noise so I shut the engine off.

however when I went to restart, it didn’t. After a couple tries the start button went to “run” and I could move the shifter knob to D but it flashed and would go and screen said put it to P to start? Tried doing that a few times with no different result. Ultimate I got it back to off, opened the door and finally got it to start normally.

did they build this van from salvaged Gremlin parts?

I’ll be sure to video the next time this happens and hope the dealer can resolve it.

Following up on my experience.

After updating flashing the BPCM software I thought my car was running fine... until yesterday. Not surprisingly, this van ran into another trouble.

The "Service Hybrid Electrical System" error message came on while I was driving on the highway with my one-year old daughter. The van kicked into turtle mode, and started to slow down on its own. Thank goodness we were already existing the freeway, so we were already in the slow lane next to the shoulder and were already slowing down.

The check engine light is now on, of course. I'll check the OBD reader later this afternoon and report back on the code.

I'm now gearing up to file a lawsuit against the dealer.

waste of time. Your beef is with Chrysler, not the dealer.

Get thee to a lemon law lawyer. Free to evaluate, and if he takes your case it's because he knows he'll win and Chrysler will pay his bill.

The dealer has zero responsibility in this, and you are just working yourself into a frenzy. Make a lawyer, that Chrysler will pay for, take care of all of this for you.

Yep agreed, just make sure lemon law in your state covers the lawyer, would hate to find out they take a cut of a cash settlement.
I believe I could have gone through a lawyer, paid by FCA, if I wanted but it's just a bunch of corporate process and time in my state (law is very clear on what the settlement is supposed to be).
In retrospect I would investigate getting a lawyer consultation either way to make your life easier.
Either way the process is going to take a while, especially with covid. (it's taken ~2.5 months to get a buyback/settlement)

I had the chance to check my OBDII reader this evening.

The codes this time were:
U0100 - lost communication with ECM/PCM "A"
U1818 - [OBD reader couldn't decipher this one - but from prior incident we know this code is "Lost Communication with ECM/PPC< on D-PT CAN"

Which showed up last time.

Hopefully I can make the case that the dealer actually is unable to fully address the van's problems.

would it have been less dangerous had you not been "with your baby"?

Obviously not the point
Hmmmm, it sure sounded that way.

People throw out "but think of the children!" all the time...
