It does mean, really, they're all the same. Don't have buyer's remorse, and don't let anyone try to tell you his choice of vehicle is somehow inherently better than your choice.

My point was, get what you want.

Well I got what I wanted - a hybrid van that allows me to drive all EV when running errands and can go longer distances without the range anxiety. I don't think anyone here has written anything about other choices being better.

In getting what I wanted, I also got what I didn't want - a hybrid van with wiring issues that are documented on the NHTSA website which suggests that the issues are not uncommon.

I'm one data point but I've owned a hybrid Lexus (still own it after 5 plus years) and a plug-in hybrid BMW (3 year lease), both of which never broke down on the side of the highway or wouldn't start, yet my Pacifica Hybrid somehow managed to do both within a span of three months. Again, I'm just one data point and I'm sure folks will point to how Chrysler is moving up the ranks etc... which is all fine and good (and good on Chrysler for making tangible improvements) but I can't say my experience has been pleasant.

Hey gang - another follow up. I received a call from my Chrysler customer retention specialist who offered $2,000 for my troubles, but asked if I wanted to proceed with the buyback request, which I had discussed with this specialist when my vehicle broke down the second time. If I went for the buyback, Chrysler wouldn't offer the $2,000 right away. If a buyback request is approved, then they'd take the van and I'd pay usage fees. If a buyback was denied, Chrysler would still offer the $2,000.

I asked for the buyback request to be initiated, but the review and approval process can take two weeks and there's no guarantee that a buyback would be approved.

I'll keep ya'll posted on the buyback process.

What type of charger are you using? Wondering if there is a link here. I just ordered a charge point charger myself, waiting for it to arrive. I see mixed info on max amps for charging. Is it 30amps or 50 amps? Think charging at the full 50 amps could cause the “wiring issue”?

The vehicle's onboard charger will not allow it to charge over 30 amps. L1 and L2 J1772 only supply the power to the onboard charger. Does not matter if they are capable of supplying 40 or 50 amps, the onboard charger is in control.

Well Chrysler indicated the wiring issue was due to improper installation at the factory, and this definitely isn't a a ChargePoint or stock / L1 vs L2 charger issue.

By the way, this is an issue of loose wiring connections, and not the case of the hybrid system somehow malfunctioned due to charging points.

Yet another update - I received approval for buyback today. The $2k offer previously mentioned was increased to $5k if I keep the vehicle, but honestly I just want a dependable vehicle at this point so I turned it down. The whole process will take at least 90 days, so I was informed. Chrysler will pay off the lease, reimburse me for any lease payments, and payments made to the dealer less any calculated usage fees.

Forgot to mention, if you're looking for another FCA product, you can get yourself signed up for the Certain Designated Individual ("CDI") program which lets you purchase your next FCA vehicle with employee pricing... at a fee of $200 as a CDI program "administration fee".

Some advice needed: I had signed an engagement letter with a lemon lawyer right before I was notified that the buyback was approved. I'm not sure at this point whether it's meaningful to have a lemon lawyer, so opinions welcome.

I know about obtaining the advantage program control number (1% under invoice) but I am under the impression the CDI (employee discount program) you needed to be family member of a employee to get one of those. Are you hinting they giving out CDI control numbers to lemon cases because incentives are gone?

well, it appears from a quick search that they offer CDI numbers in lemon cases just as a general thing. It's not a matter of the current situation.

Interesting they certainly offered a advantage control number to me on my lemon case but not a employee CDI (up to 5% off invoice). Although they mentioned it's regional specific on what incentives the dealers offer. (It's not guaranteed they offer anything)
I was just wondering if maybe a policy changed recently since incentives expired (just closed my lemon case few weeks ago)

Were you offered the advantage control number free of charge? It sounds like the CDI costs $200 bucks to get.

As I look around CDJR dealers in my area, I literally don't see any dealers with 2021 models. I guess inventory is just so ridiculously low that folks are snatching up 2020 models when we're about half way through 2021. In any case, I can't think about purchasing / leasing another vehicle until the buyback process is complete anyhow, so I guess I have some time to think about that next vehicle.

Ya it took around 3 months total to go through the entire process. I actually ended up financing/buying a new one before it was completely finalized because of the expiring incentives.
Good luck!

It’s not clear to me if replacing the wiring harness seems to have resolved the main issue of the van stopping while driving? Could you please clarify?
It seems that the wiring connections weren't installed properly, which low to no power to various parts of the vehicle including the hybrid system. Having a new one that's installed properly seemed to have done the trick.

Is is just me or does this "remedy" sound impossible? How can a software update fix a short in an electrical connector?

LOL haha I didn't even notice that. I was just glad that the NHTSA finally got around to recognizing that there's a real issue with these vehicles which we've known for years.

And yes the fix doesn't seem to address the issue. Maybe there will be another recall when people realized that it's not (just) the software.
