I purchased a pre-owned 2021 Pacifica Hybrid Limited on November 4th 2021. The same day after driving it off the lot, the vehicle stalled (essentially loses power) while driving at a high rate of speed on the highway. I see this has been reported by several people with at least 4 NHTSA IDs filed with the exact same issue. This is a serious safety concern so wanted to get feedback from others on what they did to get Chrysler and/or their dealership to resolve the issue. Currently our Pacifica is at the dealership and they're trying to figure it out. They have stated "we can't replicate the issue" and "we can't get any error codes".

Symptom: While driving at a high rate of speed (65MPH, 60MPH, 50MPH, 70MPH), van loses power and gas pedal will not work. Van is on <1% battery and running off gasoline power. After coasting to a stop on the side of the road, a message pops up that says "Service Charging System" and the check engine light comes on. Then it says "Shift to P to Start". Check engine light is on.

Frequency: Happened 4 out of 5 days before taking to the dealer

Workaround: Shifting to P to start (starting like you would normally start the car) does not start the vehicle. We have been able to figure out a workaround to get it to start however. If you push the start button without your foot on the brake so it is in the "accessory" power mode, then put your foot on the brake, then push the start button again, it starts. The check engine light stays on for a period of time (less than 24hrs) after each event, but then goes off.

Ask your dealer workshop manager if they did performe or car already have software upgraded with RRT 21-062 and 21-063 which supposed to update modules:
BPCM (Battery Pack Control Module), PCM (Powertrain Control Module),PCM (Powertrain Control Module),AHCP (Auxiliary Hybrid Control Processor).
When car stalling with Charging System error while driving it can be worse than just software, but most common it is software thing. In my case there was many faults, with Motor A and other commponent , but as You have mentioned, faults were clearing itself in short time, however wiTech equipment shoud pull the codes easily, even when check engine light gone. I sujest for your own interest purchase some 10$ OBD ELM327 wifi/bluetooth and download free version of alfaOBD app. Show everything about this car. Free software version has limits to work 15 minutes every time you will start it. You will be not able to reset fault codes unless you will use gateway bypass, so don't bother.
In my case,after software update I have mentioned above, I had car stall once, low speed. And only one fault code, again from Motor A (sensor cuircuit) and I was devastated as it may lead to more serious problem which ending up with trans replacement. However, I just continue to drive the van and (touch the wood) it never stall again... And I was not gentle anymore on that thing, driving it in all kinds of condition and load. Electric and Hybrid, with fast acceleration and strong regen. I just put the van through it paces, as I felt I have nothing more to loose... And it is working like it should- never had any issue since 25.10 (last single stall after software update)

Of course it doesn't really in those dengerous situations people and their families having , and that should be taken much closer by Chrysler. But I hope at least all above may help you.

Is there some way we can find out if we have the most updated/upgraded software BEFORE we have issues and/or have to take it in for something?

Honestly I don't know if anything other than wiTech diagnostic tool (Chrysler scanner/reprogramming) is able to get that data from your car.
Never tried the AlfaOBD in that instance, but having a lot of faith in that software as it shows huge amount of data for these cars. Although never tested my self as mentioned.

I have had a couple of issues with the uConnect display/unit: navigation has just "blacked out" a couple of times (blank screen), it doesn't go into "night mode" when it is dark out most of the time (stays on the bright screen instead of the dark one when it is dark out), and now the toggle switch for the radio will only toggle between two presets. I guess I should make an appointment to get things addressed. Hopefully if they have a fix for things I don't bring up they will fix those too.

Certainly, appointment is good start. I did my own with concerns but they have pulled out immidiately from their system that my car by VIN require Y50 recall and those RRT I have mentioned above, they did all updates and it did, so far, fix all the issues/concerns I had. It is wise if you will ask them, at dealer shop, what available updates are awaits for you car in the system (RRT, TSB etc). All they did to my van was free of charge.

AlfaOBD is very capable. It is not user friendly in a sense that it doesn't have a "Read all fault codes" button, and each module has to be individually queried. I suggest querying all modules under "Engine", BPCM under "Batterry Management" and Body Computer.

Totaly agree, AlfaOBD looks more like profesionall diagnostic software, thay you have to have minnimum training, but eventually when you find out your way through it is amaizing how cool tool we can have in our hands. Had to be careful when using gateway bypass as some changes can "lock" the car-however it does also store changes in the files, so undo of bad change can be done.

AffaOBD can read everything without bypassing the SGM. I haven't hear anyone attempting the bypass- probably because not that many Pacificas are out of warranty and need it.

I was just saying , that without bypassing you can only read . Can't clear codes and change any data-that is possible when using bypass.
