2022 Pacifica "S" SiriusXM Trial message pop-up

Hello all, though I'd share my experience with trying to get rid of the "Welcome! Your trial subscription is now active! [Listen Now] [X]" pop up message.

Background: The Sirius radio comes from the factory already fully enabled. This is so the dealers can show off a functional radio while the car is on the lot. When they sell the car, SiriusXM receives a Retail Delivery Record notification that the car has been sold, and sends a code that puts the radio in "Trial" mode. (see: Everything You Need to Know - SiriusXM Dealer Portal).

Then the radio pops up a notification message inviting you to register for your trial. (and get your credit card so they can "for your convenience" convert it into a paid service in 4+ months). Then the screen goes away.

I did not do that.

I called SiriusXM and asked that they cancel my trial completely. Which they did. Erased it completely. When I turned on my radio the only sat channel was 0; which is the SiriusXM commercial loop. All the other channels were marked as "disabled." BUt the pop up stayed. Every time I turned on the car "Welcome! Your trial subscription is now active! [Listen Now] [X]"

So I reset the radio. No help.
I FACTORY reset the radio. No help.
I called the dealer. No help.

Because I completely canceled my trial service I received an email from SiriusXM, "Sorry to see you go, would you stay if we offered you a $5/month plan?" So, I just bought that. And now the pop up is gone.

I'll wait 6 months, then cancel the service and see if the **** pop up is gone for good.

But wait, didn't I get a 4+ month free trial? Yes, but when I canceled it, it seems Sirius web activation said my radio is now no longer eligible. (Never mind that's NOT what the pop up message said... lol)

Whatever.

Maybe I should have just registered for the trial, and then remembered to cancel the service. But I tried to fight the good fight and lost.

Anybody want to go in on a class action suit? :)

When you buy the car you should call sirrius radio yourself and enter that day as day 1 . Some dealers don’t forward that info and the I service date for your vehicle is day 1 from when the radio is active . Cancelling your service is on you and your radio has id number , they have your info on radio trials , activations , cancellations . And the radio goes into limp mode , as they say , and stays there until you register for a new subscription or enable a trail period based option. It’s simple , you either use it or lose it , and nothing pops on screen I always your on the active or non active sirrius screen from uconnect .

I think you're missing the point. It was on me to cancel, which I did. I called up XM and canceled. My radio still acted like I had a trial when I didn't. And there was no way to convince it otherwise.

That was the problem. Should have been simple. Not simple. Radio got confused because I canceled an optional service. NO way to fix it. Dealer no help. XM no help. Factory reset no help. This forum no help. Google no help. Just lots of articles on other forums from other people with the same problem. How did I fix the problem? I bought the service. Hopefully when I cancel XM in 6 months, my radio will just go into de-activated mode and all will be well.

What did you do? You signed up for the trial. Good For You.
I have had Sirius XM since 2014 in my 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. I also have it in my 2020 Pacifica as well. I got my service free for a year in 2014 and then when it expired, I told them to cancel it. They offered it to me for 5$ a month. It's now 2022 and I am still paying that price on both vehicles each month. Each year I need to cancel the service before the 1 year contract ends and re-new it and tell them I want it for the same price or I will cancel it. With that being said, I have put my service on hold when I would travel for extended periods amount of time or if the vehicle would be in the shop. I had my 2014 DGC in the body shop for a month when I put the service on hold, then when I picked it up, the service was still active but with-in a few days it was no longer active. I just needed to call the and restart it. With all that info here comes the info pertaining to your issue. Sometimes, you radio needs to reset itself from Sirius XM, meaning they need to send a signal to it to "refresh channels". This could possibly be the issue. But another thing, Sirius is good at making accounting issues but if you catch it by reviewing the info on your account through the website, they will adjust your account accordingly. Another thing, never pay more than $5 a month (not including taxes and fees) for a radio service. Do like I do, tell them you want it for $5 or that you will cancel when your contract is up. You must do this before your end date you they will start charging you something like $27 dollars. I haven't listened to terrestrial radio since 2014 and can't ever imagine going back.

Yeah, my last three cars, and the wife's make 4 that all came with XM. This is the first one that had a silly pop-up right on the uconnect screen that showed up every time the car was started. Once six months have passed I'm going to cancel the $5 service. With carplay, tidal and apple music on my phone... there's just not enough reason for it.

The radio feature is enabled when it leaves the factory . When the period , as listed on the bill sheet , runs out then the service at some point will revert back to channel 0 or 1 if I remember . So you cancelling early or later still enacts will show the same uconnect screen fundamentals. The dealer has zero capabilities on this , sirrius knows your in service and expiry date , they also have ability to resend signal to your vehicle to enable service . So what are you complaining about ? . You with have active service or you have the dreaded channel 0 or 1 channel on the uconnect when you bring up sat radio from the uconnect .

You really aren’t understanding.
I don’t want the service. What I want is the pop up telling me to buy the service to go away.

This was on my car every time I started the car. No way to get rid of it. Calling Sirius to cancel the trial didn’t get rid of this message.

I have decided to purchase another brand of vehicle next time to get rid of the annoying Sirius trial nag screen. Yes, it pisses me off that much. It is hard to believe that Chrysler would force owners of $50k+ vehicles to exit a nag pop up advertisement screen every time the ignition is turned on. I must have hit the X button 1000 times. Can’t the screen take a hint?! Why no opt out or NO button?! It’s worse than some MS Windows malware viruses. Sirius will never get a dime from me after such invasive tactics. Also, a perpetual Sirius commercial loop defaults every time the vehicle is turned on rather than the last radio channel you were listening to. Hopefully Sirius and Chrysler wise up.

It pops up on mine too, but when I reverse out of the garage.....that overrides it (the reverse camera) and I don't have to click anything to get rid of it.
I was having this pop up on my 2020 and I called sirius and had them delete my account and remove my radio from their system and it has not come back in a week so far. You have to be firm with them and tell them you feel its a safety issue. It was popping up over my navigation when stopped at lights so I had to dismiss it to see my next turn, the car should never be having pop ups if it is in drive or reverse. I threatened a case with the NTSB and a lawsuit to sirius because its causing distractions, especially the fullscreen weather alerts while actively moving that never go away on their own and force me to tap the little X to see my navigation. Why do we need weather alerts about upcoming storms the next day. Weather alerts for where you are going makes more sense.
Interestingly, my UConnect took a 10 minute update yesterday (12/18/2022) and the invasive Sirius Trial nag screen that has been ruining my $55k Chrysler ownership experience for months is now GONE!!!!!!! Thank God.

i never signed up for a trial. This shows up every morning and I need to click out of it to access car play. I hate it. I’m super pissed I have to deal with this every day. I only listen to podcasts and will never use Sirius. I’m going down to the dealer and will have them remove it.
so, how did that trip to the dealer go? were they able to rid your system of the pop-up ad?

I had the same issue. Went to "Apps" on the infotainment screen. Then clicked "All" on the top right. Scrolled through apps and clicked on "Stored Notifications". When I was there I noticed there was a notification from Sirius and deleted it. Seems to have solved the problem.
